Are there any projects using OEM LIDAR module with pi?
I often hear color talk from certain people about moving away from the city to Idaho or somewhere desolate to be “free” and shoot guns.

Personally I would dream of beaches in Bermuda but to each his own I guess.

Re:Norway Is Walking Away from Billions of Barrels of Oil on Wednesday April 10, 2019 @03:29AM (#19622589)
this article is kinda misleading, norway is still drilling for oil CLOSE to the arctic, it just stopped short of the 'natural wonder' areas.
it wasn't till it became.

There was clear evidence of fraud and broken fiduciary responsibilities which i belive are unforgivable.

LIBOR will still be around but its importance will diminish in perpetuity.

Excellent concept.

Especially if one can source local CnC/machine shops to send material to be pre-cut then delivered on site.

I do see 3D printing eventually being a more efficient way to build spec houses.

what about replacement with coconut oils?

Would love to see a comparison.

Re:Ask HN: What's the best way to handle rejections? on Friday January 27, 2017 @12:49AM (#13498026)
change your approach.

Every rejection gets your closer to a yes. Learn from your mistakes (if any), optimize and try again with the expectation of getting a yes.

I know its hard but try to be more robotic and take emotion out of it as much as you can.

Lastly, know your audience. Cant use the same pitch with every person.

Tried to signup but getting errors. Tried to send message via contact me page and the page crashed.

Not very comforting.

Re:Pastry Chefs Are in Demand, Why Aren’t Wages Rising? on Friday October 14, 2016 @04:58AM (#12706875)
Seems like a sector that would be ripe for automation ie grunt work of prepping.

Surprised it hasnt taken off yet but maybe because wages are still reasonable.

Pretty sure that would change instantly if wages started rising.

Ancient bling.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

"ContractBeast did not address the problem of providing a significant, consistent and immediate benefit"

Neither does insurance but its pretty much a no brainer for most companies. Contact management isnt suppose to give instant gratification. Its supposed to provide peace of mind knowing you will not miss important dates in the FUTURE.

Hate to say it but Mr Romero seems to have given up way too early. All the smart people on HN someone will pickup the baton and run with this idea.

Re:Google Launches Fresh-Grocery Deliveries on Thursday February 18, 2016 @03:41AM (#11124471)
This makes so little sense..

Google seems to prefer hunting anchovies over whales on this one.

a JV might be a better idea...$2.5M isnt that much money and i doubt it will even come close to being useful relative to the other search engines

Tried using your project for the same DNA article and your server crashed.

404 Not Found nginx/1.4.6 (Ubuntu)

as you said, its a side project which would explain why the system is not ready for primetime.

Re:Rise of the Robots Will Eliminate More Than 5M Jobs on Tuesday January 19, 2016 @04:30AM (#10929559)
But the real question is how many new jobs will be created to support the new robot infused economies?
This issue affects every industry in america. Recently read a good article that talks about this exact same issue http://www.huffingtonpost.com/steven-shehori/post_10628_b_88...

Im honestly not sure who to blame more, the system or apathetic parents.

Re:Pharmacyclics' "miracle cure": A cancer drug on Tuesday January 05, 2016 @03:21AM (#10842034)
The word "miracle cure" really grinds my gears.

I wish they would not use such language. There is no such things as "miracles"

Re:My adventures in medical tourism on Tuesday December 15, 2015 @01:01AM (#10736202)
Cant really speak about orthopedic issues but have had some experience when my partner had cosmetic surgery abroad. Cosmetic surgery makes up a significant chunk of treatments and is much more of art than science. There is no way I would ever risk having surgery anywhere before i knowing all the facts. My partner had a face and neck lift from a "reputable" doctor in Los angeles and honestly looks worse afterward than he did before. About 5 years he became painfully aware that he needed it done again so he went to a well-regarded surgeon in Bangkok that really improved his appearance and cost about half as much. http://www.thaimedicalvacation.com

One interesting thing about her experience was that he was told by the doctor in Thailand that he would not be able to offer a surgical facelift since he already had one 5 years earlier. It was very interesting to see doctors saying no rather than risking poor results with multiple surgeries. A person like Joan Rivers is a good example of what can happen when you have way too many surgeries.

Overall though my opinion is that for rare or esoteric conditions, there is no place on earth better than the US. However for common elective or nonelective surgeries, going abroad may not be a bad idea.

"Users" Lol..1 guy threw his 3GS in the grass.
