Several thousand people die every year from drowning every year in the US[1]. That number could be significantly reduced if swimming pools were banned. Swimming pools provide a lot less utility than cars. Do you think swimming pools should be banned?

edit: To provide greater context from the slides I linked. Go was designed to replace C++ and Java in Google.

I'm sure there are many people willing to take those jobs in these times.
Masoton doesn't encode useful information in the URL like the author described in the first section.

Something like Disklabs' Faraday Bag ought to solve that problem.

1. This is written from the point of people developing desktop applications for Linux. It doesn't apply to a specific desktop envirnment.

2. The article isn't dated so I can't say for sure. Wayback machine doesn't have any copies prior to today[1].

They had conducted hundreds to thousands of tests before the first case in the country was detected.

Okay, but you have not right to do the same to other people's civil liberties.

Re:AMD's 5nm CPUs could be monsters on Thursday March 26, 2020 @03:21PM (#22696931)
Intel's 10nm does have a higher density than TSMC 7nm[1]. However, Intel's desktop chips are still on 14nm and that is closer in terms of density to TSMC's short lived 10nm node.

I have heard the Intel's 10nm node was overly ambitious and this caused their delays.

No, you are getting it backwards. The states predated the general government. The states delegated powers to the general government.

I believe many are upset over them temporarily blocking the stimulus bill.
macOS matches watchOS, tvOS, iOS, and iPadOS. Unless Apple decides to rename all their products, I don't see macOS changing.
I don't think any president has ever been elected by the majority of the voting populace. The highest voter turnout in the past 50 years, as a percentage of VAP, was in 2008 with 58.2% voting. Obama received 52.9% of the votes in that election. That means he actively received the support of only 30% of the voting populace (.582 * .529).
Can somebody link me to where this 15 day shutdown was declared? I can see many articles talking about Trump walking it back but none about it actually being declared or what it entails.
The general government has no right to perform such actions. State governments do and have done so where they think it makes sense.

Also, making statements like millions of Americans will die is causing more harm than good. The country with the highest per capita infections in San Marino with 553 infections/100K pop [1]. San Marino is a small city state. Switzerland has the highest per capita cases of "real" countries and is still 5x lower at 107/100k pop. Since the United States is a much larger country with a much lower population density, the infection rate of San Marino likely wouldn't translate. However, even if we do so that would give a total number of cases in the US of 1.8 million. That means there wouldn't even but millions infected let alone dead.
