It’s not a good look for the US either. What is the US’s jurisdiction? Dragging in a foreign journalist who has not set foot on US soil TMK to be charged with crimes yet everyone here is inundated with foreign spam communications and millions of dollars stolen from US citizens every year. It shows where priorities are.

Same here and been happy with them. Not only the aforementioned issues in addition to the sheer cost of a newer car these days. Deals can be had, but are hard to find.

I don’t see how this is any different than any other internet connected device that companies are seemingly so eager to get into our possession to mine and monetize data that we produce by using them. The device i’m using to type this up included.

To me this seems more like just one piece of a more meta issue that is arguably turning in to a multi-headed monster for the average citizen to contend with going forward. I’ve also seen no evidence of effective, concrete, and widespread clarity, reform, or help coming from anywhere. I hope I’m horribly wrong.

I worked at the grand opening of the new classic restoration center next to the ATL airport and saw for myself how committed Porsche is to keeping their entire lineage of vehicles on the road. IIRC they said ~75% of all Porsche vehicles ever made are still registered.
I would wager most folks on the keyboard warpath (or podium/camera) would be much more civil with their alleged target if they were sitting across the table from them.
Welcome to the cultural revolution.
Bingo.
Ivermectin is a good start.
I was just about to chime in about Cisco meraki. If you stop renewing the license you lose control of your meraki hardware.

I’ve been using the keepass ecosystem for years after switching from 1password. It’s open source, highly portable, and you don’t need a degree to set it up.
Re:Bitwarden Acquires Passwordless.dev on Wednesday January 18, 2023 @12:23PM (#34429741)
KeepassXC and/or strongbox have a very similar workflow to the older file based 1password one. I switched from 1password once they went to the centralized subscription model and I have been very happy with it for years now.
Re:Bitwarden Acquires Passwordless.dev on Wednesday January 18, 2023 @12:21PM (#34429681)
Strongbox for iOS.
Re:Bitwarden Acquires Passwordless.dev on Wednesday January 18, 2023 @12:19PM (#34429661)
Bingo, me too. I like that keepass is file based so I can use any storage medium to make multiple layers of security to access the vault. Even if cloud providers have access to the file or my cloud storage account gets hacked they still have to crack the file to get the passowrds. Also I have been using strongbox pro for a few years now and been very happy, in fact I like it better than what 1password used to be. Worth every penny. KeepassXC has also been great.
Brave browser blocks all youtube video ads.
I also bought a sceptre 50” 4k dumb tv at the end of last year for around $225 and I have been very happy with it. It wasn’t HDR, but they are rolling out with HDR models now. Even so the color out of the box is pretty good and there are plenty of adjustments in the menu to tweak. Whats not to like?
Re:A Guide to the Terminal, Console, and Shell on Wednesday December 28, 2022 @07:50AM (#34160476)
Why should I have to take a computer science course and memorize a whole language to install a program, manipulate files, change a configuration, etc… Not all of us who use computers for a living are programmers. I manage several computers that perform different tasks, but thats only part of my job. Dropping into CLI is something I only need to do a few times a year only because some of the software I use has no other UI. I’ll posit that people like myself use GUIs much easier because they are self learning. I don’t need a CS degree just to use it, all the options are laid before me to see at once. It’s the fastest way for me to do what I want with the software and move on with my life.

Underrated comment.

Yes the chargers will just magically appear everywhere for free.
Re:Toyota CEO talks about why he isn’t all-in on EVs on Monday October 03, 2022 @12:01AM (#33063337)
No I don’t because I inspect and research the cars I buy to avoid dumpster fires. After 20 years of car ownership I’ve never once had a breakdown or an expensive repair. Furthermore I haven’t had any issue that a $150 toolset, a jack, and a youtube video couldn’t fix in an afternoon.
Re:Toyota CEO talks about why he isn’t all-in on EVs on Sunday October 02, 2022 @11:39PM (#33063231)
What kind of similar problems are you referring to? A punctured gas tank? That seems fairly obvious to me.

What do you mean by break? Everything at some point breaks. If you do your research to buy a quality and cared for vehicle in the first place, keep it maintained, 300k miles is of minimal cost and effort.

Re:Toyota CEO talks about why he isn’t all-in on EVs on Sunday October 02, 2022 @10:29PM (#33062839)
So 10k+ in for a 5+ year old car with a “reconditioned” battery that should last another year or two for 100 miles range on a good day? All the early Leafs suffer from short range along with terrible battery degradation. Where’s the value in that against my current paid for ICE car that will last me another 100k plus miles with no range degradation and that can charge to 400 miles in less than 5 minutes?

Heaven forbid for anyone like Akio Toyoda to have a pragmatic outlook on the future of four wheeled enclosed personal transportation that departs from the popular narrative.
Re:Toyota CEO talks about why he isn’t all-in on EVs on Sunday October 02, 2022 @09:51PM (#33062559)
Yea and it will have a range of ~50 miles if you’re lucky.
Re:NYC to mandate proof of vaccination for many indoor settings on Wednesday August 04, 2021 @09:43PM (#28068766)
Possibly dumb question, what about the people who have been told by their doctor to NOT get a covid vaccine because of specific pre-existing conditions or medical history?

My neighbor has been told by his doctor to not get any vaccine because of his medical history. Are those people just SOL, or am I missing something?
