They should use Deepseek - much cheaper.

Everything old is new again - return of the phablet.
Re:Anthropic S-1 on Monday October 26, 2026 @12:12PM (#50246232)
I don't participate in stock markets for personal reasons but if I did, I would be betting against Anthropic in the long term. This is a highly commoditized field and while they are a leader it's not clear than any of their attempts at vendor lock-in are working. They are certainly not working on me as I cancel and enable my subscription depending on the availability of capable lower-cost models.
Re:The State of Context Engineering on Sunday October 25, 2026 @09:11PM (#50237799)
I thought the price reduction was because both companies implemented Deepseek's published research which demonstrate effective approaches to lowering the cost of inference while maintaining quality. Thanks to Deepseek, they did lower their costs and they passed that in to their customers.

My kids must be losers - they still like books.
Re:Dutch government had hacked into Jared Kushner's phone on Friday October 23, 2026 @09:44AM (#50208887)
Yes, Jared Kushner is a human. A human criminal.
The world turns a blind eye to Israeli terrorism.
Re:Apple HomeView on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @02:00PM (#50075922)
I always wanted an immovable laptop that is closer to phone size. I'm just a worst of both worlds kids of guy.
Re:Beam: Reflection's 501B open-weight model on Monday October 05, 2026 @05:29PM (#49971074)
This is like an ad for how great Deepseek V4.1 Flash is.
Kushner is like the human embodiment of conflict of interest. I can't see his face without immediately thinking the term: corruption.

He's like the fresh face of elite capture.

Re:Agents don't need memory. They need documentation on Saturday October 03, 2026 @06:51PM (#49948545)
Yes, this makes sense. Memory is an uncurated and often opaque system of arbitrary past discussions. It can help, it can harm. Accurate documentation in the other hand is only beneficial.
Re:Kolibri Has Landed: A Sovereign Open-Weight Model on Saturday October 03, 2026 @06:46PM (#49948516)
For the benchmark... it seems a bit silly to compare only to outdated/underperforming models.
Re:GPT 6.1 Sol: Near-Astra intelligence for a fifth of the price on Wednesday September 30, 2026 @08:41AM (#49908078)
People's volume and approach varies. I'm a happy customer and I use my entire double max subscription on planning and analysis and have other models doing all my implementation work because I would burn through my subscription in a day or less. It's difficult to calculate, but I'm something like 10-20 billion token per week consumer and I can't use a US-based model to do this volume of implementation work.

Also, a lot of this work is verification to ensure that AI generated code does what is intended and is safe to merge and deploy. That verification work is critical and uses a lot of tokens.

Well articulated. Ty
Well, I don't go to website anymore... so ha! ;)
Re:GLM Built Its Own Inference Infrastructure on Thursday September 17, 2026 @12:04PM (#49742779)
It can be both. They were already doing it and the situation made it more urgent.
Sounds very democratic...
Houthis are very resourceful
Re:Tencent Releases and Open-Sources Tencent Hy4 Preview on Saturday August 29, 2026 @04:53PM (#49493242)
Oh yes! I forgot about that. Yes, you can see this in benchmarks about hy3 preview and hy3 release still today because they measured them separately - it was significant.
Re:Tencent Releases and Open-Sources Tencent Hy4 Preview on Saturday August 29, 2026 @04:26PM (#49493072)
I used Hy3 quite a bit for the type of tasks it was suited for. Excited about this. My one concern over Hy3 was speed. In theory, it could be served much faster as a smaller model but it was relatively slow everywhere I could get it (including from Tencent directly) but also several other inference providers.
Definitely curious to get the perspective on this topic from some of Jeffrey Epstein's other friends as well.
Yes, 37Signals DHH have an amazing gift for taking something that is old and not interesting and getting a lot of attention for making it seem new and innovative. That is a gift!
Look - I'm am the opposite of DHH fan -- that said -- they could fix all these bugs/security issues that same way they created them. It makes sense to some extent to create a product that emphasized what is different about it from a feature/UX perspective so people can consider if it would even be useful to them at all. If they can prove that they have created something useful - then they can fix all these issues. Fixing these issues is not hard. Creating a useful product that people want -- this is the hard part.
Re:Coding expertise is going to collapse from AI reliance on Monday August 24, 2026 @05:20PM (#49425996)
I hate to day this, but most coding work isn't hard at all - for a human or AI. There are a lot of important skills around coding, but for most people, much of the time, they are not doing any coding that is particularly challenging, difficult, it novel.

If you have a truly hard problem - sure write some code or take a hybrid approach. Still, let's not pretend this is what most people are tasked with.

Or a one state solution with a Palestinian leader.
Yes, but when your trying to cover up a genocide it's a bit different
I wouldn't say everywhere. Who else is trying to cover up genocide, ethic cleansing, and apartheid?
Definitely not relevant. But is it even news? I'm sure some of them farted - who cares?
Re:BriskDB on Saturday August 15, 2026 @05:45PM (#49314610)
This is very cool!

Don't be discouraged by some of the comments on this thread. Looks like you had an interesting idea and you implemented it and now you are sharing your work. You have stated that it is alpha.

Personally, I don't care if was written by AI or by 12 drunken monkeys -- if it has a sufficient level of testing (high bar here!) that shows that it reliably and safely does what it is intended to do -- that is all that really matter.

Re:Working with AI Feels More Like Leadership Than Coding on Saturday August 15, 2026 @03:42PM (#49313639)
The feeling of "leadership" is probably a hallucination unless your actions are being followed by other humans.

Generally speaking, leadership is quite unlike issueing others that others follow unquestionably.
