This has a lot of Javascript. But is a great work nonetheless
Re:Flattr is closing down on Thursday January 18, 2024 @12:45PM (#39044856)
I'd like to have a service where I can purchase credits and then this gets distributed between sites that I can choose to support as I visit them.
How do you guys see this scenario: Medium/small companies start to use GitStart as a cheaper way of hiring developers, making it hard to devs on GitStart to get long term jobs
gremi.ooo: guess grêmio foot-ball porto alegrense's player of the day
Yea, even us brazilians are refusing portuguese job offers , even though we're struggling here, because of low salaries.
Once everyone starts taking it preemptively for covid, would it still be cheap?
I guess that's the point? No solid evidence of ivermectin efficacy existed before the government launched a national-wide web form that prescribed it for anyone with Covid symptoms, or before major health insurers started testing on patients without their families consent, or people rushing to the pharmacy and clearing out their stock of those medicine.
Re:Ask HN: What are the biggest problems in your life? on Tuesday October 05, 2021 @08:14AM (#28758344)
Brazil
I guess you haven't heard of brazilian healthcare provider Prevent Senior. That's just the tip of the iceberg, more healthcare providers will sure follow the same path.
As a fellow brazilian I'm happy for you guys. I don't know very much about corporate travel, but I loved the idea behind Anywhere Office. If it's any help, there's some text color issues on your website header, and the language dropdown is breaking on larger options.
I never had one. Was clicking on the >>| and thinking it was bugged because it won't navigate between the items on menu...
The first time I've used weed I had one too. I still do not enjoy weed. I've microdosing mushrooms and then I was way more relaxed when I took a large dose for the first time. I was scared in the begginning, and sensing an increase in my anxiety because my GF was watching me sober, then I excused myself and laid down on the bed, watching the sky with music on the earphones. I've concluded that I can't have a nice time with drugs having people with me.
They hire remote?
Could some one clarify for me why the consts for the useSound() are declared inside an array?

const [play] = useSound()

Without the context, I can see that remark being made by a creep

Wow, I don't know how I just missed modern browsers being able to run Game Boy emulators.

It looks impecable. But without the explanation I think I would never guess the inspiration. With the explanation, my first expectation was that the website would be titled and distorted on the edge.
Re:A Guide to the CSS Cascade on Thursday January 23, 2020 @08:34AM (#22127373)
This is a very limited point of view. Unecessary repeated code is a problem caused by inexperience, not by preprocessors.

They aren't training wheels, they are meant for advanced users who wants to save time.

Maybe USA and Europe. South America definitely not.

Well, these badges are going to appear in a lot of Wordpress websites.
It's not like employers and managers are known for being open minded when asked to modernize their workplace. Too much work, I guess.
Re:New Features in Vue 3 on Wednesday October 30, 2019 @10:09AM (#21397888)
Well, I started with Angular and couldn't make any sense of it. It had two versions with huge differences between them and React offered a more concise path for learning.

But I found JSX hard to read and there was no consensus on how to write CSS and some people were saying that it was ok to use inline styling. WTF? The web design community have been telling me the opposite for years!

Then I started working with Vue and everything fallen in place: no deprecated lifecycles, CSS into style tag and easy to read markup with no Array.map() returning HTML tags.

Fragmentation is bad, but is nice to have a balanced option between extremes.

Re:Google clamps down on free storage on Wednesday October 23, 2019 @10:13AM (#21334809)
How the hell you took the comment above as an apology of communism?
Re:Ask HN: What is your hustle, how you started? on Tuesday October 22, 2019 @03:23PM (#21327569)
I'd recommend Vue. JSX is great but felt alien to me, who was coming from HTML + JQuery. And then you have no consensus on how to write CSS, and inline styles is still an abomination to me.
Re:An app that translates air pollution into cigarettes on Monday October 07, 2019 @09:39AM (#21180620)
Yep, I can't see myself doing the process of downloading this via the store just to check a trivia fact.

Perhaps there's more than the catchphrase that can justify the smartphone-only format.

There's several sites like that. I've used Supercook
Re:Brothers, I Must Go on Tuesday October 01, 2019 @10:28AM (#21125663)
Yep, definetely this dude must go.
Re:Web Development Simplified with Svelte on Friday September 27, 2019 @08:09AM (#21090961)
I felt the same way when I discovered Vue after a long time using React.
Re:Ask HN: If you were to switch career, what would you do? on Thursday September 26, 2019 @02:23PM (#21083839)
Carpentry, probably anything that required manual labor with some creativity needed.
Re:Adding NetlifyCMS to Your VuePress Website on Wednesday August 28, 2019 @02:20PM (#20822490)
Craft or Directus probably if I had more time.

My requirements at the time were:

- Can be integrated in a Vue static site generator

- Has a free plan (single user)

- Could be hosted for free at least during development

- Could have relations ("Post" can have a "Category" field that list its content as options)

- Has a admin UI that a non-developer could figure out
