I was reading your comment and wanted to comment about creatine until I saw it added at the end. With over 20 years of gym training and taking massive amounts of supplements, I totally agree. Apart from protein if you can't get enough from food, I find that everything else is either useless or not worth the price.
I eat out and travel a lot, I rarely use TripAdvisor anymore. When I want to find a decent restaurant nearby I open Google Maps, for hotels booking.com reviews haven't failed me yet. I mostly use TripAdvisor when I want to be more specific with the reviews eg. filter by couples in winter

Does it support presets similar to Lightroom? My workflow is pretty basic, I got about 10 presets I use on 90% of the photos I take, depending on the lens exposure, etc.
Re:Ask HN: Have you ever had an existential crisis? on Wednesday July 03, 2019 @04:26AM (#20342598)
It could be that I have a loving family (including a cat I've raised since she was a kitten), I'm quite social and have lots of hobbies. Don't get me wrong, there's days when everything falls apart, but usually I see no purpose in being depressed. I only got one chance to live this day and I don't want to waste that time by being sad because life is meaningless.
Re:Ask HN: Have you ever had an existential crisis? on Wednesday July 03, 2019 @03:17AM (#20342290)
Had one a few years ago and I became a nihilist because I couldn't really find a purpose for my existence. I'm not as ambitious when it comes to work. Switched to contacting as a 9 to 5 job and don't touch programming outside of that. I spend more time with family and friends, going to the gym and doing sports, traveling more.
Re:Open sourcing the Firebase SDKs on Wednesday May 17, 2017 @07:42PM (#14363786)
I can see there's no Ruby SDK, but are there any plans to build one?

Can you quickly compare Atom and VSC for golang development? I've been using Atom with go-plus, and I'm quite happy with the setup. I'm wondering if there's anything I'm missing.
Re:Norway to become first country to switch off FM radio on Friday January 06, 2017 @03:18AM (#13334721)
DAB radio in my car stopped working and it costs £650 to fix. The service guys said they have to replace the whole centre console. As I won't pay that much, it's FM radio or Bluetooth for me.
Re:Vue in 2016 on Wednesday December 28, 2016 @07:59PM (#13274977)
Is anyone using Vue with Rails? Is it easy to set up?
Why would they buy Twitter when they can easily create a new product, called Google++ that everybody can use and love?

Ember looks really bad.
Re:Rails 5.0: Action Cable, API mode, and more on Thursday June 30, 2016 @07:58PM (#12012877)
By looking at the comments you'd assume a new version of Phoenix got released.
Re:Don't like Brexit? We have a plan on Thursday June 30, 2016 @05:23PM (#12011860)
It's very easy for an outsider to judge it like that. You can't compare the UK with an ex-communist, very religious country. These things can't really change overnight, it takes a few generations. So yeah, I wouldn't advise any gay people to go to Romania.
Re:Someone left my Gmail in debug mode on Tuesday December 01, 2015 @03:06AM (#10654123)
A friend of mine works at an insurance company and used Testicle as a test name. It wasn't that funny when a customer called his workplace asking why he got a letter that starts with "Hello Mr Testicle".

Windows pushed me to Linux, and Linux pushed me to OSX.
Re:Is Uber Making Taxi Service Better? on Monday July 20, 2015 @08:40AM (#9915578)
I'm using Uber quite often, but mostly to get home from central London. I live in zone 5, and I rarely find one around there.

Unfortunately, a lot of the drivers are very unskilled. I once almost crashed into a fence that the driver somehow didn't see. Another time, the GPS took the driver to a dead-end road, so I had to tell him to drive back and follow the road. When I mentioned that he has to turn right, he turned right straight away, on the wrong side of the road. I almost collided head-on with another car.

Maybe I've been unlucky, but these drivers need to be evaluated somehow. I was reading Shortlist the other day, and apparently it takes more than two years and around 20,000 miles on a scooter around London to pass the black cab driver test.

Re:“Fashion Is Hard. PostgreSQL Is Easy” [video] on Thursday June 18, 2015 @07:47PM (#9742271)
It's still beta it seems. I used PG Commander, but it was too basic.
Re:“Fashion Is Hard. PostgreSQL Is Easy” [video] on Thursday June 18, 2015 @09:15AM (#9738289)
Two years ago I switched from PHP and MySQL to Ruby and PostgreSQL. The only thing I'm missing is Sequel Pro. PG Admin is ok, does everything I need, but that interface is ugly and unintuitive.

Re:Show HN: Headphone Enhancer for Techno and 5.1 Movies on Wednesday December 31, 2014 @08:49AM (#8819312)
Can't really think of any features now, because I like the default sound and I wouldn't want to customise it. I'm just thinking of bug fixing and future proofing the app.
Re:Show HN: Headphone Enhancer for Techno and 5.1 Movies on Wednesday December 31, 2014 @07:51AM (#8819137)
Wow, I'm loving this. I was looking into something to improve the V shaped sound of my Sennheiser Momentums. Are you going to continue working on this? Or is it a one time project?

Also, would it be possible to add a currency converter on your website? 10 bucks should be about £6.50

This is so useful, thanks! Can it get existing data from the database? Or does it only translate the seeds.rb file? I've been using https://github.com/rroblak/seed_dump in the past.
Re:SublimeGit: Full-featured Git integration for Sublime Text on Wednesday October 09, 2013 @08:37AM (#6520838)
Nobody mentioned https://github.com/kemayo/sublime-text-git Isn't this good enough? I've been using it for quite a while now.
Re:Ubuntu Edge is dead, long live Ubuntu phones on Friday August 23, 2013 @10:47AM (#6263908)
I paid £1800 for the Lenovo X1 Carbon because I'd thought it was the best ultrabook at that time. Installing Ubuntu on it resulted in problems with: volume and brightness settings, trackpad, hibernation, fingerprint reader, mounting my NAS drive.

I don't have it anymore because I got robbed. Although I'm a Linux enthusiast, I ended up replacing it with the 2013 Macbook Air, because I don't want to pay a premium price for a product that I can't use 100%.

Re:Ask HN: What are some good laptops for Linux right now? on Saturday April 06, 2013 @06:36AM (#5503211)
I'm quite happy with Ubuntu on my Lenovo X1 Carbon.
