> Humans do not pursuit Platonic knowledge for their own sake, and those who claim to do it, often are satisfying their egos in a different way.

The different way is "I'm different, my reasons are better". We are but ego.

They can aim at anything. I'm aiming to be an alchemist.

> An EV has a battery of ~80 kWh, equal to 2-3 gallons of gas, yet it can go a few hundred miles, a 3-4x ratio of efficiency, compared to an ICE.

Now compare size and weight of the battery with 3 gallons of gas. I can carry hundreds of miles of travel on my person if it's gas, I can't carry much battery though.

Why would you be posting other people's opinions?
Re:Serbia just elected the world's brainiest parliament on Saturday October 31, 2026 @06:34AM (#50314721)
I used to believe very hard in technocratic governments where experts lead instead of politicians merely consulting with them as most countries do (or pretend to do to give cover to whatever they'd do anyway). Supposedly very technocatric governments end up being more corrupt than average but I can't even remember sources, just that after reading about I became less of a believer. I really want to believe it has to be better than having old people who's whole career is politics but who knows.
Re:Binance-hacker-1029 – $5.6B stolen from Binance on Friday October 30, 2026 @03:50AM (#50300921)
If you download a typosquatted package because you don't check what you type or your AI assistant got fooled I'd consider it my fault in such a case.
I'd like to see their position on just computers and the internet in general before taking any comments about AI. Maybe they just dislike everything tech anyway. Despite any good points, for example the Unabomber would also oppose AI, but he also opposed most technological progress. And they could be both right on the wider point also, but it's not worth the same if they'd say the same thing about most modern living.
This is Cuba we're talking about. Profits only matter if they go to the ruling family and friends.
Read their comment more closely please.
Yeah but the total hours of content produced are way up. Most video content that needs to be produced and is consumed nowadays isn't movies.
Yeah no man, take your nationalistic crap somewhere else, I like spices and stuff from other places
Re:CVE Tracker on Friday October 23, 2026 @09:25PM (#50217545)
They have nothing to do with the number is my point. They don't uncover anything.
Re:CVE Tracker on Friday October 23, 2026 @08:13PM (#50217080)
Do the agencies do any research to find CVEs? Or do they run a mostly cacheable website where they simply get posted?
I'm sorry, it overcame me, you have good points, have a good one.
> I will judge somebody who buys the latest car, or latest phone, or something like that

That's the spirit!

Yes exactly what's the problem with profiting from child slavery if I only do it every 3 or 4 years? Pfff, get good guys.
You can apply the same to FIRE if you want to trigger half this board.
You wouldn't even have spices thinking like that
If you read the article you see it was a quote from one of the interviewed people.

I'm so curious what you do when the providers go down. Do you tell your boss you can't fix the incident because your token quota is out?

Not everything needs to be abbreviated
Re:Using Claude to reduce the attack surface of code on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @03:04AM (#50177067)
So far I can always get around it by starting fresh sessions on a similar problem and without ever mentioning security issues, but why do I have to play this little theater with a tool we pay to use.
Re:Using Claude to reduce the attack surface of code on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @02:41AM (#50176901)
These guys are now the biggest slowdown to fixing issues with their bullshit cyber detection. They drop a model, let the model find security issues in your code, then when you want to fix them you need to play a game of charades so it doesn't realize it's creating a validation and then a fix for the issue because you might be hacking yourself. Meanwhile attackers are using some ablated deepseek or what have you.
Hazmat and air respirator
Why do people share projects that can be made in 10 prompts?
Claude disagreed with this take but I'm but I'm not sure it's true myself.
All that posturing for the purpose to be manually monitoring cache hits and misses. This can't be serious. Buy a larger plan or reduce some instructions and you don't have to deal with this waste of time.
Re:"I'm on a War Footing": Terry Tao and the Crisis in Math on Monday October 19, 2026 @02:48AM (#50149147)
There's no such thing. It'd be dictatorial as every other communist state ever was, and that's hoping the people in power wouldn't also subscribe to the communist ideas of killing a bunch of people to enable the revolution and to do it fast. Or read Terrorism and Communism (1920) and get scared - though most people end up thinking these mad men were nice grandpas.
There's not some expensive magic to do that. They buy military grade chips and that's it. Any vendor can make the same with the same promise.
