Apple has ads in their OS too. Inside Settings on iOS, they constantly push Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, AppleCare+, etc at the very top of Settings

Samsung tested their original Galaxy Fold to 200,000 folds [0]. At a generous 100 folds per day, that's about 5.5 years.

That should be for the merchant to decide, though, not Apple

Yes, it does rhyme in American English
Re:Stable Diffusion 2.0 Release on Wednesday November 23, 2022 @10:52PM (#33727624)
It doesn't need to be game-chaning to be considered V2. It just needs to be "the next version"

What effect, if any, might a major earthquake have on the time calculation?

I've been using a new WebKit-based browser called Orion. It is super snappy, has compatibility with Chrome and Firefox extensions, has power-user features built-in, is privacy focused (collects 0 telemetry -- they are donation based), and continues to add features at super fast pace. I highly recommend giving it consideration if you are looking to move away from Chrome.

Re:Elon Musk owns Twitter: The story so far on Friday October 28, 2022 @04:23PM (#33377388)
I'm coming from the POV that a financial decision boiling down to one individual on behalf of some company is different than a purchase made by an individual
Re:Elon Musk owns Twitter: The story so far on Friday October 28, 2022 @03:21PM (#33376312)
Could this be the largest purchase ever made by a singular individual?

If you want to avoid the rigamarole of self hosting, I recommend NextDNS. It's a paid DNS service with tons of customizability (i.e. Ad blocking) and visibility (i.e. logs)

So that you're protected from data breaches of the service itself (e.g. revealing a reused password)

That's exactly what Olympian Motors is doing. They're a YC company.

It's beautifully styled imo and has only physical controls inside

Isn't this exactly what SQL is supposed to be for? Why not just submit SQL queries and get the response directly from the DB?

That is to say, what differentiates GraphQL from SQL?

Model S is aging in what aspect? It was just refreshed. Do you want change for the sake of change?
Re:Mechanical Watch on Wednesday May 04, 2022 @03:24PM (#31264734)
Same question. The balance wheel/hairspring has to be losing energy overtime to friction (however miniscule). Otherwise we have ourselves a perpetual motion machine
Re:GitHub: Private Profiles beta on Thursday April 21, 2022 @07:35PM (#31116499)
It's a beta of the "Private Profiles" features (as opposed to the status quo where all profiles are public)
He got it from Marc Benioff, who purchased in 1996. I'm assuming as a favor or private transaction, given that Richard and Marc know each other (from Salesforce) and the seed round.

At least in California, it is not illegal to change lanes in an intersection, given that the maneuver does not pose any other risk
But what if they don't?
Apple should embrace this fully and create their own decentralized network
Re:Salesforce Is Down on Tuesday May 11, 2021 @07:00PM (#27124700)
Not even the fact that it's simple - it's the obvious and de facto way that a status page should be run: an architecture that is entirely separate from the main product so that an outage of the main service doesn't affect the status page itself
Something needs to be fundamentally re-architected if the status page is also down during an outage. The status page should be entirely separate so as not to be affected by the outage itself. This is a well known, and obvious, practice and it's disappointing that a behemoth such as Salesforce has not taken that seriously
Re:Flu has disappeared worldwide during the Covid pandemic on Thursday April 29, 2021 @04:00PM (#26985946)
I wonder if it's because folks who were feeling sick got tested for Covid first, and upon a negative Covid result, assumed (likely correctly) that it was just flu and didn't get a flu test
