it is amazing that you can emulate win 95 on a browser tab and play win 95 video games like it's 1998.

Re:SimCity, but with Permits on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @03:44PM (#50171641)
I was daydreaming about building sandcastles on the beach or the playground but with heavy machinery, strong concrete foundations and, of course, permits. Signed by the townhall

Re:The fire retardant in the seafood chain on Monday October 19, 2026 @05:36PM (#50158386)
probably not only Americans. The EU imposes fire retardants on furniture and clothing. It is not a health hazard in the long run because these might be the last human generations to be born due to GW
I wouldn't be so optimistic. At the current trend, we might be just walking corpses. Like newborn Japanese children from Nagasaki on the 2nd August 1945 (4 days before its sudden democratisation or vaporisation by the American democrazy). We are just seeing the apocalypse in slow motion.

According to some of the most optimistic doomsayers of the Interwebs, the warming levels we are enjoying as of today are due to the CO2 levels of 30 years ago.

I, for one, do not want an aggressive BMW SUV tailgating my rearview mirror and I help them fly away by very slowly reducing my speed to the legal minumum

Re:macOS 27 Golden Gate: The Ars Technica Review on Thursday September 17, 2026 @04:53AM (#49738105)
At the beginning of the century, I used to live from October to September looking forward to the next OS release to fix the bugs I would encounter. Maybe because I was not aware that it would eventually choke my low tier machine. Now, I dread the day I will upgrade the OS
Re:iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 on Tuesday September 15, 2026 @08:56AM (#49711837)
If Apple wanted to make the OS more secure, they would make the OS more modular, allowing users to reduce the surface risk by not installing bloated components

Re:iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 on Monday September 14, 2026 @04:41PM (#49703657)

Re:iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 on Monday September 14, 2026 @02:57PM (#49702116)
yes. I have been waiting 12 months already because Tahoe didn't convince many people, and I dread the moment I upgrade my mpb m3. Maybe I should just keep the factory OS

Re:Following legal advice, the Nitter project will continue on Monday September 07, 2026 @05:45AM (#49596216)
macOS mail application used to receive RSS news feeds. It couldn't be simpler for your mom than that. She wouldn't even need to log onto twitter
Re:Following legal advice, the Nitter project will continue on Sunday September 06, 2026 @02:25PM (#49589348)
It is sad that Twitter is basically a private closed gate monopoly that people beg to use instead of developing alternatives like RSS
This year, it got cloudy right at the climax. Luckily, we were watching it from home. I would therefore warn people against spending stupid amounts of money on something that a few scattered clouds can easily ruin

ask a relative that you visit from time to time what's their favourite book on their shelf and why. This way, you at least make sure that they would not toss the book in a whim. ask them to write the parental control PIN on one or two pieces of paper and then type it on the phone screen to lock it. ask them to store the piece/s of paper in their favourite book/s.

bow to never bother them about the piece/s of paper unlesls you are stranded in the middle of the ocean and need to use the phone. When you visit them, you might unlock the phone and repeat the process
