I would say check out Monero if you haven't already.

Since the article is about Bitcoin and human rights I think it's worth mentioning that Monero is the only crypto currency that protects your financial privacy. Privacy is an important part of controlling your own wealth not least because it makes money fungible and doesn't allow discrimination against where coins have been spent previously.
