So TLDR is it competitive?

What are the dimensions and dynamics here vs EPYC?

I mean, it's a typo?

Give them a break

Re:Tesla sales dropped 60% in Germany on Wednesday February 12, 2025 @05:47AM (#43024010)
The problem is R&D. Tesla absolutely is not and will not compromise on all that self driving car R&D and other engineering work.

And that's expensive.

And there's nothing wrong with that, now is there.
That's honestly one of the best pieces of writing I've read in my life.

Can't recommend it enough.

Send it to all your friends. Everyone should read it.

A very important clarification.

Sounds like office workers only.

How does this even work in Japan after this change.

There's so many stories of corporate overwork.

Does the entire country just desperately want to work for the government?

30 year fixed mortgages are actually not as good of an idea as you'd think.

I actually spent a significant part of my early career working with real estate economists.

A bunch of economists I know actually lost money fixing their mortgages in 2008. They fixed at too high a rate and weren't prepared for the low interest rates environment.

This is very good advice.

Re:Why Software Engineers like Woodworking (2021) on Sunday February 11, 2024 @09:26PM (#39340750)
Because it's the complete opposite of being a PhD student I'd imagine.
Re:Why Software Engineers like Woodworking (2021) on Sunday February 11, 2024 @09:25PM (#39340746)
HA.

That's actually a remarkable statistic.

Well said.
Re:Building an antilibrary: the power of unread books on Sunday January 07, 2024 @05:30PM (#38905866)
Ha. This is excellent.
Re:Coders at Work: Reflections on the Craft of Programming on Thursday December 28, 2023 @06:24AM (#38792346)
I must admit, I read this and failed to find any profound, deep way that these coders are different.

Seems like they just worked hard.

What an extraordinary story.

That's hugely touching, I'll remember it forever.

AoC shouldn't take all of Christmas (it does however require quite extraordinary algorithmic prowess).
Maybe for context, the fact that high-ranking public servants in the West are known as "Mandarins" should indicate the reputation of Chinese government officials for political intrigue.

The Big 4 novels contain a lot of public servants.

Academic politics is something else.

I thought for awhile those guys got lucky and skip office politics.

Then I realize that PhD level IQs + pressure to get into the fancy journals means that the politics is 古典小說 tier.

Re:I shamefully paid for Sublime Text on Wednesday September 13, 2023 @09:51PM (#37503979)
I think to add to this.

If you're a fully employed professional of some means, which a huge amount of folk reading this are.

Pay for your shareware software. Usually with independent SaaS software, after I've used software for 6+ months or more, I pay for the lifetime license.

It's just polite.

Re:I shamefully paid for Sublime Text on Wednesday September 13, 2023 @09:41PM (#37503913)
Why is paying money for ethical, user-respecting software like Sublime Text a bad thing?

Sublime HQ the company maintains an excellent reputation, and does a wonderful job.

Re:Leaving Haskell Behind on Thursday August 24, 2023 @10:30AM (#37249153)
I find the issue is most of the niceties are also built into Rust.

Scala's perfectly good though, there's very little to complain about.

Exactly this.

Consequence of capital controls.

Excellent point about sovereignty and the absurd Credit Suisse merger.
Or, Stardew Valley is FarmVille+ love.

Maybe that's the secret.

I'd chew my arm off to have that 40h a week pair programming experience to be honest.

Sounds like my dream job.

Re:Nvidia H100 GPUs: Supply and Demand on Tuesday August 01, 2023 @02:25AM (#36952967)
Honestly, that's a really excellent point.

Successful startups are successful because they do exactly that. Successfully.

Re:Why engineers should focus on writing on Saturday July 15, 2023 @09:54PM (#36742761)
I agree with this, immensely.

Your goal is to get your message across when your writing is skimmed.

That takes immense skill as a writer. Immense skill.

Paris Review is a great book to get an overview of mastering this skill.

I deeply appreciate the green box. Thank you very much, look forward to the read.
What a ridiculous statement.

Why did I read the comments section...

Yes...
