With how poor delivery services coverage in my area is, if I look for Saddleback and don't find it soon, I'm probably uninstalling because they won't have anything else I'm looking for. Might install again next year to see if it's better.
I wonder what the highest x% is that the courts would accept as not totally bs. I'm pretty sure if Steam said, oh yeah, you can re-sell within Steam but we'll just take 99% lol, that would not be ok.

And the relevant text: "In the current implementation, trusted 'validator nodes' are core to the security model. This means that hard power is centralised around these few entities. The protocol itself depends on these entities to (as the name suggests) validate the protocol. This means the protocol is whatever they decide it is. These entities can change the rules whenever they want. This means they can freeze your coins, take your coins, issue new coins, or really whatever they want - the sky is the limit."
So the goal is to be like a food court, but cheaper and/or better because, due to delivery-only, the location can be cheaper, and the space can be more efficiently used (no customer seating)?
Any time my wife tried to sleep in her last hospital stay, the attached vital checkers got jostled and started beeping. She is used to sleeping in a reclined position and sleeps easily. I have no idea how a less-easy sleeper would get by.

You know how kids used to pass paper notes in class? Well, yesterday I learned that kids still do this. Except now they do it through the comments and review section on Google Docs. Shared Google Docs that they are supposedly taking notes on for class, or collaborating on an assignment. And if a teacher or parent comes by, they hit "resolve all", and everything disappears.

Purpose is mutable.

It's the ever-present question. How many 9s would you like on your service?

I thought this was some kind of project for automating LEGO deconstruction down to the smallest possible bricks (hardware).

Ah yes, the "two wrongs make a right" argument.

That is also what shodan is about.

People were suggesting the home remedy of adding redshell sites that the software reports to to your hosts list.
So now there will be essentially no way to "alert the regulatory agency" other than essentially taking the offenders to court yourself?
You definitely need something to channel that dedication into. Political groups use it for change in their favor, companies use it for work, terrorist groups use it for terrorism.

How did this thing even survive in the wild long enough for humans to discover it?
There was a look at local laws, and a lot of ordinances were passed re: home-sharing. I don't know why it transitioned to a national regulation.

Isn't the point that the attacker could compromise that promise of non-tracking? They could track whatever is routed through them and then forward them on to the legitimate destination.
Even if not another company, people develop actions for Google Assistant so I don't think it's that wild to think that 3rd party Duplex behaviors could be something Google is considering.
I hope it never gets to, "Ok Google, run Microsoft Support Scam 3 on Victim List 5".
I, for one, thought it was amazing how little of the uncanny valley I felt.

There are certainly things to consider like how I wouldn't want to be robo-called by scam bots that I can't tell are bots, and neither do others. A lot of businesses have an out already built for them though. Restaurants in particular have services like Open Table and Nowait that relieve the pressure of users wanting to use a realistic robo-call.

As an "Average Joe", my biggest concern is how this will push phone communications even (edit: more) toward where Facebook privacy settings are now - registered friends only - and how inconvenient that will be. I already let any numbers I don't have registered go to voicemail, and I don't like having to do that.

Re:Ratings inflation on Uber and elsewhere on Monday April 09, 2018 @12:01PM (#16794172)
With Uber though, they specifically instruct that a normal, decent ride should be considered a 5. Does this still work when most users rate most rides a 5?
I've had a "new" heat sink come with dried thermal paste on it.

Re:Join the Battle for Net Neutrality on Wednesday November 22, 2017 @02:14PM (#15759557)
"Our business is being regulated, so let's stop trying to make more money," said no business ever. A business is not going to stop making a good investment in their market just because there is regulation.
Re:Apology after Japanese train departs 20 seconds early on Thursday November 16, 2017 @05:28PM (#15717271)
Japanese train suicide crews are actually so fast that they can clear the train to continue in 7 minutes.

Otherwise, they take train transportation VERY seriously. It is their main mode of transportation both local and in-country long-distance.
