Is typically called ai booster. The opposite is ai doomer.
Re:Move Slow and Fix Things (2024) on Friday October 23, 2026 @01:58AM (#50204956)
VC model is not the norm. It's only in This HN corner that it is.

The norm is vast business where tech is ean enabler, not the actual thing itself.

It's just the get rich quick story of VC path that pulled a certain type of introverted high iq personality to it.

AI is now showing that emperor has no clothes.

I'm seeing lower salaries, and work sample on actual codebase consistently happening. Also here an ex employee wanting to come back at just above half their previous pay.

Does not bode well for candidates.

Sure, then let the criticism be about that. Not password sharing.
Sure why not? Anthropic may be unhappy about potential lost customer, but if I had extra inference, I don't see anything wrong with this.
Re:Why are we even doing all this? on Thursday October 15, 2026 @10:01PM (#50112936)
Why should financial rewards be only for mathematical and programming work? What's the principle you're working with?
Re:Why are we even doing all this? on Thursday October 15, 2026 @09:59PM (#50112916)
No need to hope. 99 percent of the world outside of mathematics and programmers who had already figured it out pre ai. We'll just have to learn from them.
Bullshit.

First stop blocking iOS pwas from simply installing to the home screen, and don't clear out data in 7 days. Then we'll talk about your browser being better.

Re:Programming Isn't Special on Friday October 09, 2026 @08:59AM (#50019850)
A key difference is we are not paid to goto mt.fuji. the opposite infact.

Hence we can't take this lesson to the workplace.

Re:"I'm Embarrassed on Behalf of the Tech Industry" on Monday October 05, 2026 @11:53AM (#49966517)
Not for long. Ai has truly made effort and time put in more weighed in terms of pay.

Bad for tech, but good for equity.

Re:"I'm Embarrassed on Behalf of the Tech Industry" on Monday October 05, 2026 @11:51AM (#49966490)
Why is it sad? The arrow of progress is pointed the right way!

Dislike of ai is because of societal reasons. we should embrace it in our products.

Re:Web Search API on Monday October 05, 2026 @07:34AM (#49963521)
Ease of integration and billing. Failover. Higher trust.
Nope. UI Design is so well worn and incremental that everything will be disputable, and hence almost never are patents applied for.
No IP for Adobe to retaliate on. None of the UI is patentable.

Can't believe HN sentiment is taking adobe's side over open source, just because the latter used AI.

For what it's worth, kudos. This is very good use of ai, and bun proves that it is weeks to months till this hits stability.

The haters aren't seeing the direction, and proven examples.

The actual answer is there's operational cost to handling cash, or payment methods beyond the ones that cover 99.9% people well. You pay more for the extra hassle the whole system has to serve that .1%

You may not like or disagree with it. But it's the true answer.

A fork is branch right? This is how pi's branches are built.
Re:The death of web development education on Thursday October 01, 2026 @09:23PM (#49928922)
> commodifies knowledge, instead of teaching skills and deep understanding.

I'd gently submit to the author that these are not opposites. Knowledge commodification is good, and so is deep understanding.

Good article.

Re:AI and the Revenge of the Non-Techies on Monday September 28, 2026 @11:03PM (#49887578)
Well (human) written article, and I do sense all of this around me. Rather than go into denial, I think it would help everyone to discuss the core points: SWE is no longer a differentiated role that could gatekeep the way it did.

This means the newer SWEs have to now get some real-world connection / get their hands literally dirty to be valuable.

Re:Cf: The Agentic CLI for the Cloudflare API on Monday September 28, 2026 @01:34PM (#49881495)
I think the shape of clouds and services is going to change given current clouds are uxed for humans. Cloudflare is making the right bet. Specially the free agent report account. That's like a wonderful idea for building agent share.
"idea" is dystopian. Look at the world around you. Like the OP news article.
Re:How to keep enjoying programming in a world of LLMs on Sunday September 27, 2026 @02:47AM (#49864025)
I'm just telling you how the world behaves like.

Everyone's not walking around worrying about the gig-worker or the driver or the janitor, beyond the fact that that they get food on time, reach where they want to be, and walk on clean ground.

I even presented the solutions to these. Don't fake pity me - that's easy internet keyboard warrior thing. Do the work of changing the system you're part of.

Yeah, hard to compete with 20 dollars a month, was my point.
Re:How to keep enjoying programming in a world of LLMs on Saturday September 26, 2026 @07:10AM (#49855399)
> value to society is definitely not measured in what stockholder value you can produce

This is exactly the value of a person in all capitalistic systems. If we want to change this we need widespread socialism / UBI. Maybe Georgism.

The fact that you're a good friend or partner to someone definitely has value, but not something anyone cares about.

Re:What even is an OS now? on Friday September 25, 2026 @11:38PM (#49852975)
Hi Thomas, I think you're being too defensive. It's ok, I look forward to your technical posts, on what you imaging this OS powered by AI to be. Will be a fun ride.

If you're looking for a UX idea, when the phone boots, it asks "What are the top 5 things you do?". And that's how the phone experience starts.

All the best. (Ignore the silly haters, they're lost in their AI pessimism to just look forward to a new intersting thing).

It's in the article - looks like they ran it on a book.
I agree.

I don't like the unnecessary defensiveness by the author to pangram proof.

Pangram 100% is notoriously difficult for humans to do, even with intent.
Re:Goodbye Google on Friday September 25, 2026 @02:49AM (#49841012)
The lands and seas have been around before us, and will continue to flourish after us and everything we hold dear, like God.

There's no alignment except the arrow of entropy.

If you were unemployeed, what's the minimum rate per day that you'd be willing to work for?
