This is such a Linux way to resolve the issue lol
Frankly, with how pigs are killed, they could have said the holocaust and it would have made more sense (at least to me)
It's basically a drug at that point, you'll be hooked up to the pleasure machine
There's a freedom in admitting it's not gonna get better
Are patents a necessary evil?
> the work itself is pure waste. Fighting entropy.
Would you not say that this is essentially labour holding up the value?
And I agree about low maintenance products being necessary, the example of the static site is good because the files could be described as becoming a stateless transformation of data!

I believe Graeber perfectly predicts the problems, in 2019, with vibe coding creating immediate "value" from production, but failing to produce true value through maintaining the system (like one continually washes a cup to give it value over time).
If it was popular, it would remove cars from the road. Would that not decrease congestion for everyone?
If would be interesting to see 5 billion LLM's working together, each with random mutations (temperature ig). Would we essentially be looking at a society through a petri dish? Ofc 5 billion is quite a lot of compute.
Nationalised LLM? As long as the state doesn't decide what information the LLM shares (from an output and privacy perspective).
Passive measures should always be in place first (and often do enough), with active as the last resort.
I think it's so interesting he was a scriptwriter for "The Thick of It", a satirical comedy about British politics
Cars aren't friendly to cities
Yeah, the internet was originally an extension of the real world, and it probably should have stayed that way.
It will be fun running into this scenario where it's run without democratic control, be proprietary and for profit.
I think I've got this from growing up with a narcissist. Thoughts are constructed and seemingly endlessly whittled to try and create a sentence that can avoid getting belittled.
It's hard to talk in groups, because you have to have a sentence mentally critiqued by 3/4 people in turn, so the topic has usually changed before you can say your piece.
How many chief constables aren't white? Cognitive dissonance isn't a fact
Mark Fisher in Capitalist Realism touches on this concept, where there's a constantly shifting opposition to the market that itself becomes engulfed in its own market, to be advertised.
So for example all the productivity/digital detox channels and videos are themselves a consumer demand to be watched on YouTube, on phones. And now we have anti-AI products marking themselves higher for a feature that didn't previously exist. It's like the tree of capital gets split at every turn.
It's also crazy how slow countries have been to build solar panel roofs on car parks, this should have been done so long ago with the budget that car infrastructure gets.
The reason it's trending right now is because it's a convenient price, simple to use and making people read more because of its size. If it helps people cut down on phone use then it's a good product.
The build quality could be better, but there doesn't exist a similar product with better build quality.
Can you build a DIY version that's significantly cheaper?
Well, this was my thinking for getting one, we shall see when it arrives :P
Edit: Also you can choose to install a nice open source community firmware
Wow. Tell that to the cobalt miners in the DRC.
If we use world models to train AI systems, are we not essentially forcing something to live so it can gather data for us?
Yes, we haven't gone that far with creating consciousness yet, but there is gonna be a lot of money around neural computing devices for consumers in the coming decades, so that will speed up knowing what sense data you need for consciousness.
and gave a gold trophy to the current US president
Being poor in a capitalist country is still slavery - you don't work, you don't eat (as well as have access to accomodation, healthcare, public transport).
OpenWRT One? Not sure about AP's though.
A complete human experience is to have relatively little time, no point in doing anything if you have 500 years to do it IMO.
Edit: Maybe there wouldn't be nilihism, but I don't think you could get more fulfilled with the extra time. I feel like an insect that lives 24 hours and a shark that lives several hundred have an equal feeling of accomplishment.
