Re:OpenCode 2.0 on Thursday October 15, 2026 @04:39PM (#50109878)
I am pretty new to it, but I like OpenCode. Except when it decided to build 430GB of snapshot data out of a simple Android application.
I haven't read "Press play on tape" in decades!
Re:Interrail: 6,379Km and 13 Countries over 7 weeks on Monday July 13, 2026 @06:51PM (#48899990)
My daughter (now 20) did something similar last summer: Prague, Berlin, Copenhagen, Malmö, Hamburg, Amsterdam, and Paris in a couple of weeks, IIRC.

She left with a friend, who headed home after a few days, so she ended up traveling solo for most of the trip. She stayed in hostels (bar in Paris) and ate basically only TooGoodToGo food [0] to save €. She made it home in one piece, with the biggest smile on her face.

Re:ArcBrush – Node-based 2D image editor on Saturday May 23, 2026 @01:02PM (#48249253)
No multiple colorspaces support, alas, only RGBA. It reminds me of https://filterforge.com/ which has been around forever.
Hi! I was looking at `@eigenpal/docx-editor-agents`—would that be a viable option for fetching the content of Word docs in agentic workflows? I'm currently using Pandoc to extract an MD version, but I'm not sure how true to the actual document that is (e.g., with comments). Thanks!
Re:How to deal with your kid leaving on Monday May 18, 2026 @06:50PM (#48186904)
I might be wrong, but IIRC in other animal species as well as in humans, individuals generally do leave when pairing—either females joining the male's tribe (many hunter-gatherer societies) or vice versa (e.g., baboons).
I'm pretty sure most non-native speakers (one here) do the same. I'm not talking about three-paragraph-long Slack thread, but even a single message where I feel otherwise unable to convey what I need _the way_ I want.
I'm curious, is it generally used hand-held, as in the website's pics? I would guess that it adds wobbling on top of the distortion (maybe a less desirable feat).
Re:Opus 4.7 knows the real Kelsey on Friday May 01, 2026 @02:50AM (#47971910)
Wouldn't that make it easier, though? Genuine question. I once sent one of my writings for proofreading to a native speaker (I'm not), and he consistently flagged the same errors—e.g., comma placement. I would guess that, if recurrent patterns are what give away your style, an unfamiliar language would make them even more obvious. But possibly more generic?
Re:Ask HN: How many of you are self employed? on Monday February 05, 2024 @06:53AM (#39260237)
How do you get clients for tech writing, if I may ask? Are you maintaining a stable pool of companies and doing work as they need it, or do you always have to fish for new opportunities? I've been authoring sw dev books that target a niche audience, and I've done some writing for the company that develops the sw itself. I'm wondering whether to expand to other areas, too—I've got the feeling that 2024 is going to be a rather challenging year, financially speaking.
Re:Cody – The AI that knows your entire codebase on Thursday August 31, 2023 @03:49AM (#37333815)
About the "know your code" part, I got burned when I asked for an overview of a few header files from an SDK I wasn't familiar with in a local repo. Claude hallucinated badly, making up functions and their descriptions for most files—in a very believable way, though. I've got the habit of double-checking with ChatGTP, just to be sure.
Re:Gumroad Increases Fee to 10% on Saturday December 17, 2022 @06:00PM (#34033173)
I didn't know Getrevin, but it's possibly out of scope for the average Gumroad creator. I mean, they charge $799 per month (according to them, they're competitive if you have a monthly volume of 150K)

There's plenty of MoRs out there: FastSpring, Paddle, Lemonsqueezy, and I'm sure the ones that I don't know will flood Twitter in the next days :-)

Re:Vuescan – Software support for 6500 abandoned scanners on Thursday March 24, 2022 @11:32AM (#30791298)
Never understood the reason why Hasselblad (formerly Imacon) scanners aren't part of the list. Given the street price of several thousands of dollars and the fact that Hasselblad has decided to discontinue them a few years ago, there would be a large audience of users willing to pay good money for it.
