Not sure if irony but cubit means a unit of length from an elbow to the end of the fingers. (BTW maybe that’s why people think giants were 100 cubits tall, when in fact the text said they were a group hundred hands strong)

To possibly find “sleeper” papers check out the “show similar” feature of this arXiv mirror on condensed matter physics. https://cond-mat.abbrivia.com Search for some keywords and then surf by “show similar” on relevant articles.

We can run your user data by our AutoML tool http://ForecastApe.com and add a predictive power estimate to each dataset. In fact it is like adding a dollar tag to their data. So they could thus justify cleaning it.

It depends a lot on the database flavor. My suggestion is to search for “tips and tricks“ for your particular DB.
Re:Ask HN: Is there any input method which can guess language
on Wednesday February 13, 2019 @07:21AM (#19152483)
It would be great to have an adaptive engine that would guess what language you type in from first letters or words . But what to do with Apple and Ringo, both are legit words in English (Ringo Star)

It looks like only a few top logo images are used for all randomly generated cards. And theses logos are often boring.

It would be great for the system to at least move further down the logo image cue and not reuse the first three pictures or so. Could you add a button to fetch a new portion of images?

An interesting application of the Kolmogorov complexity to measure the similarity of various languages etc.
"Abstract—A new class of distances appropriate for measuring similarity relations between sequences, say one type of similarity per distance, is studied. We propose a new “normalized information distance,” based on the non computable notion of Kolmogorov complexity, and show that it is in this class and it minorizes every computable distance in the class (that is, it is universal in that it covers all computable similarities). We demonstrate that it is a metric and call it the similarity metric. This theory forms the foundation for a new practical tool. ..."

“I liked the resolution of the 30-inch monitors, which is 2560 by 1600 pixels. That is 100.63 pixels per inch (PPI).” AND it was very easy on the eyes. My ten years old 30” seems to have blown a cap so I’m on the market for a new one. The 43” seems like a great alternative. Especially because 30” became only 50% cheaper over the 10 years, that means they are still (over) expensive.

It’s a cultural thing too. People in the US generally tend to have a certain idea of a life timeline: before the retirement and after. Not so in many other places. This book has a great discussion on this topic and more https://www.crossculture.com/product/when-cultures-collide/

Cool stuff. How far in the future does the prediction reach? Is it possible to isolate other factors apart from the rfm?

While I guess you implied neural networks under ML here’s an example of a classification AutoML based on linear models but may include NN in the future https://github.com/paypal/autosklearn-zeroconf/blob/master/R...

Do you care to chime in with your use case for our patch discussion? I am trying to argue for the translit to be most useful for asciifying filenames among the others. Another actual user will help to make the case.

We are actually actively working on Cyrillic-ASCII transliteration for glibc in this very moment. Please check this patch for details [1]
Your help and suggestions welcome to make sure this will be a useful and consistent fix when it lands.
The bug [2] is from 2006 (sic!) and it is a reason why transliteration may not work with iconv for some systems/locales.
