>"Food liquid" or drink (a liquid that is specially prepared for human consumption) is a part of the culture of human society and not only a substance which addresses the basic human need to drink.

What a weird sentence!

D contracts are arbitrary code snippets. So they're Turing-complete, therefore it's still uncomputable.
Re:ReactOS 0.4.9 released on Tuesday July 24, 2018 @03:08AM (#17598732)
My hypothesis is that some people blindly upvote anything that has the word “React” in it.
Re:Machine Learning Guides on Monday July 23, 2018 @05:02PM (#17595978)
Yep. The plebs are onto us. Time for a crash ;)

Daily reminder for data scientist and machine learning types: fill your pockets while you can, because machine learning bootcamps are on the horizon!
While I welcome the privacy implications of this, I don’t see why recovery wouldn’t be possible if the T2 chip and the SSD is intact?

Don’t rock the boat!
Re:Long Live WebGL (2013) on Sunday July 22, 2018 @05:56PM (#17589137)
Just learn the fundamentals in a platform-agnostic way and you’ll be set for life:

- 3D geometry (lines, planes, implicit and parametric surfaces)

- basic splines (Bezier, Hermite, maybe NURBS)

- matrix transformations

- rotation via quaternions

- projective 3D geometry

- shading (diffuse, Phong, etc)

- advanced tricks (shadows, reflections, etc)

Once you nail down these topics, the rest is just learning the specific API quirks (memory model, synchronization, etc), be it OpenGL, Metal, DirectX, Vulkan, or whatever comes next in ten years.

How does this connect to the parent comment??
This. Traditional “luxury” cars are like those Nokia phones they made with gold plates and swarowski “crystals”. Nothing but gimmicks, and a laughable feature set compared to an iPhone.

A spectre is haunting...

“We’re a data-driven organization! [as long as the data fits our agenda]”

It’s one of my favorite methodologies, next to “agile waterfall” and “holocracy with managers, middle-managers and minibosses”.

Re:p-Hacking and False Discovery in A/B Testing on Sunday July 22, 2018 @03:15AM (#17585632)
So one in ten of your findings is bogus.
Re:Schlitterbahn’s Tragic Slide on Saturday July 21, 2018 @05:27PM (#17583953)
I call this the “Cloud Atlas” style, and I hate it.
You two made me interested, but I couldn’t find anything about this RQL...
Nowhere in this document do they state that inhaling 5000 particles increases lung cancer risk by 1%.

I recommend revisiting high school chemistry, especially the topic of molar mass. (Hint: Plutonium is about 250 g/mol. One mol is 6x10^23 particles.)

Re:Building Protocols with HTTP on Thursday July 19, 2018 @05:27PM (#17570441)
Still wrong. FTPS is vanilla FTP over TLS.
Re:Building Protocols with HTTP on Thursday July 19, 2018 @05:26PM (#17570432)
FTPS is FTP over TLS. However SSH and SFTP has nothing to do with TLS.
Re:Building Protocols with HTTP on Thursday July 19, 2018 @05:23PM (#17570405)
You only need TLS for that. HTTP adds nothing security-wise.
5000 particle? LOL! If that was true we would all have cancer:

“The average concentration of radon in the atmosphere is about 6×10−18 molar percent, or about 150 atoms in each ml of air.”

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radon

Oh my god! Ban all nuclear reactors ASAP!!!

Just kidding. A regular banana is probably an order of manitude more radioactive than these wines.

the isotopes from the air would contaminate it.

Re:Oddball Galaxy Puts Dark Matter Theory to the Test on Wednesday July 18, 2018 @07:04PM (#17562752)
But (the hypothetical) dark matter does interact with regular matter through gravity, so your graph is connected.

The existence of 100% non-interacting particles is by definition non-falsifiable, therefore scientifically irrelevant.

Re:Timeline of the far future on Wednesday July 18, 2018 @06:22PM (#17562541)
Hmm... maybe it only looks smooth from space, like Venus or Uranus? An impenetrable cloud layer (like in The Matrix) would explain the cold on the surface and the endless night.
Re:The Absolute Denial of Shit on Wednesday July 18, 2018 @04:59PM (#17562010)
This was more profound for me than the whole emoji issue:

“What the tech industry can’t obfuscate behind algorithms is often relegated to some form of infantilization, in which a distinct work-life balance has been replaced by free food, ping pong, and services that do your laundry or drive you to work. This puerility is internalized so profoundly that it extends to corporate hierarchies and the way essential tasks are discussed. Software engineers are often colloquially referred to as “rock stars” or “ninjas” in job postings, and childish jargon is pervasive.”

Re:Remains of the murdered Romanovs 'authentic' on Wednesday July 18, 2018 @03:07PM (#17561214)
Yes, catholics. Why does it matter? Persecution is persecution, be it against jews, catholics, protestants, muslims, atheists, whatever.

Also, you’re saying “100 years earlier” as if that’s a long timespan in history. I know, the USA is not much older than that, but in Europe, 100 years is nothing.

And considering that ~40 years after the last Russian pogroms there was this thing called “the Holocaust”, I’m not really convinced that antisemitism was a thing of the past in Western Europe either.

Now calculate the probability of the current Universe arising spontaneously from vacuum.
