no, thanks no.

stupid addition to a wonderful product. what is the point having touch screen.

then what makes you to believe highly politicalised publications like The Economist is "trustworthy"? please just feel free to google or AI search all those failed "crash" prediction made by The Economist on Chinese economy. Don't get too shocked to see there are dozens such predictions made by The Economist in the past 3 decades - it is beyond laughable. You get far better prediction results using any random number generator.

The problem here is quite often brainwashed people never realize that they have been brainwashed. Sometimes they trust, promote or even defend the perpetrators. You have my deep sympathy on this matter.

as good as Gordon Chang.

internal system, so the IT/HR department is the solution to leechers.

nothing new here.

I am not sure what you are smoking, but that thing must be good.

Microsoft still refuses to fix the most obvious issue here - Windows should be rebuilt on top of a linux kernel.
Re:Show HN: Quake ported to safe Rust, playable in browser on Friday October 09, 2026 @01:47AM (#50016463)
probably done completely by LLM
Re:Find the flattest route between any two points in SF on Tuesday October 06, 2026 @06:43AM (#49976630)
can someone build a similar one for Sydney?

Re:Linux support is coming to Snapdragon X2 Series on Wednesday September 23, 2026 @11:28PM (#49825873)
I'd buy one on its public release date if it is linux ready.

A x2 based workstation will also be very cool.

Re:More than 100k people in Japan are now aged 100 or older on Tuesday September 22, 2026 @04:13AM (#49798036)
or maybe because the Chinese have been flying the J-36 for 20 months that has a large enough internal weapon bay for PL-17.

that is just for the RL

> and the availability of good enough open weight models for their purposes

it is childish to believe Chinese are going to give up profits to provide such open weight models forever. the whole idea of being "open" is not compatible with the Chinese culture.

Re:Xiaomi MiMo v2.6 on Tuesday September 22, 2026 @03:56AM (#49797934)
it is pretty amazing to see a young & talented woman is the tech lead of this frontier model.

it is reasonable to question why America doesn't have such environment.

Re:More than 100k people in Japan are now aged 100 or older on Thursday September 17, 2026 @10:59PM (#49749733)
give yourself a break. F-35 doesn't even have long range a2a missiles comparable to PL-17 in service. its radar is 2nd class at best, a full generation behind the Chinese counterpart and heavily rely on Chinese rare earth.

it is 2026 now, partially de-industrialized US no longer has the best weapons in the world. that is why it is struggling to even beat Iran.

Re:GPT-6 Astra on Friday September 04, 2026 @01:00AM (#49560699)
this basically says you don't believe there is real AI.
In 1985, USDJPY was around 250:1, why 160:1 is now a problem?

With almost all of its industries no longer in a leading position, with its car industry being demolished by EVs, 250:1 is what it is heading.

> They have unbelievable capital.

all those Chinese labs are backed by the Chinese government which can just print money.

time to wake up.

you are assuming the idea, the data, the code being touched by opus worths nothing.

how about measuring returns in the sense that I no longer need to share my flagship idea with some random 3rd party just because it hosts the LLM I am using?

will be great fun if one M5 Ultra with 512GB memory at 1.2T bandwidth capable of doing 3x smallish local model inferencing each at Opus 4.5 level of intelligence.

> give the CCP a reason to invade. So it will only make things worse.

CCP is not threatening taiwan because it might go for independence. it is _ALL_ about kicking the US out of the west Pacific. because of that, it is never about what people in Taiwan believe/say/do.

It is only about the military balance of the west Pacific.

> And a lot of people are sympathetic with the Chinese, just not their government.

sympathetic of what?

20 years ago, you might be able to play the "CCP regime repressing the people in China" joke, you can't do it anymore especially in such topic of Taiwan. quality of life is significantly better in literally every aspect in China. Taipei in 2026 is getting more and more like a tier-3 Chinese city in 2016.

Re:Over 5,200 Ebola cases recorded in Congo on Monday August 24, 2026 @04:06AM (#49416581)
> stayed in China

funded by the US government.

UK has no creditability whatsoever on such matter. We are talking about the brutal regime that made the claim that there were WMDs in Iraq, that regime then used such excuses to wage war of invasion on Iraq and caused up to 460,000 deaths in Iraq directly. Indirect deaths toll is much higher than that.

20 years after such crimes against humanity, UK refused to prosecute anyone on the top involved in it.

I'd trust a random Africa country much more than the one that openly waged war on foreign country to promote Opium trade.

The fact that you blindly trust such brutal regime tells a lot about your evil soul. shame on you!

> I would be happy to see a change there towards freedom, democracy and human rights but that doesn't seem to be in the cards.

because you have a western centric view on freedom, democracy and human rights. it is certainly not your fault, you were brainwashed to believe it, you are the victim.

when the US elected moron like Trump twice, with the congress full of traitors openly putting a foreign country's (which we are not allowed to name) interest first, when the UK has been in managed decline for decade, when the EU is literally ruled by far left extremists, you want to promote the western freedom and democracy? LOL

I take that as a joke.

Re:Stealth Model on Friday August 21, 2026 @08:56PM (#49395570)
as already suggested, buy and host your own inference system. just own both side of such "RCE". make sure you audit and use open source software for the entire stack.

you are just complaining on something that can be totally safeguarded. yes, it won't be cheap, it require a lot of work, welcome to the capitalist world.

loser mindset.

Re:Stealth Model on Friday August 21, 2026 @08:15AM (#49386942)
> Now we agreed that it's totally normal to have software that does remote code execution on our machines, for which it first has to transfer all data to a remote server.

buy yourself a new laptop, never ever store your value crap on that laptop, use that machine to run your AI agent. if that is not good enough, buy yourself enough GPUs to run inference.

you are just complaining that you don't have enough money.

loser mindset.

Re:Stealth Model on Friday August 21, 2026 @08:06AM (#49386861)
Chinese labs are not even in competition mode yet. You'd be seeing them paying you for each token you use when they are in that mode.
Re:GLM-5.3 Artificial Analysis Benchmarks on Tuesday August 18, 2026 @09:06PM (#49355237)
With GPT/Claude, hiding those from users to waste their tokens is a feature, not a limitation.
Re:GLM-5.3 Artificial Analysis Benchmarks on Tuesday August 18, 2026 @09:05PM (#49355225)
this is not very useful.

for over 1 billion real world users living in China, they don't have the option of paying $1.52 per task to use Opus 5, they are banned doing that due to US politics.
