Where do you remove the option for me to see how long your (now often AI generated) blog post is just by glancing at the scroll bar, why do you remove it. That’s really crappy UX…
Also - apps (mainly Office 365) no longer use a framework that allows the OS supported use of Accent Color (the thing that allows the active windows toolbar to get a Color that quickly and effectively signals ‘I’m the active one now). No no - I am Office I am so important that I need to always be green (Excel) or blue (Word) etc. No need for you to know if I am the active window or not - you’ll find out when starting to type and the ‘wrong’ windows receives your input!
It seems that there is a design pattern where product owners favor apps to look nice in board room presentations over making them effective to use for professional users (as well as average Joe).
Don’t get me started on the often lack of keyboard shortcuts - just use the mouse (no thanx - way too much clicking, only use mouse where it makes sense, please)…
I would expect this crowd here to not make these mistakes as ofte. :-)
B is defacto for storage…
I also see this bad design pattern - tried to clone an outlook calendar event, a meeting with a teams link it that I need repeatedly at sporadic new times (thus can not set it up as repeating).
Outlook native is unable to do that - I am then forced to use Teams to clone the event, likely because Teams need a new meeting id - but why the f••• is Outlook native not able to do that (oh - it’s a webthing).
Too bad they are making changes for the sake of changes (and $$$) in stead of user needs …
Thank you for mentioning this - best tip of the day ;-)
Seems to be inspired from emacs/doom-emacs and friends … great!!!
I never understood the US paper size system while living there (or since...!), don't get me started with feet and inches and 16'ths etc - ISO, metric and base10 is just so much more logical and easy to use...
Please don’t pollute responses with made-up machine generated time-wasting bits here…!!!
Probably just to make it slick looking (fluent)…
- BUT that’s completely non-effective as it allows for the cursor to be positioned on top of a single letter in >10 different positions.
So when you’re editing you are having a much more difficult time placing the cursor just between the two letters you want.
I noticed it when using some app the had disabled this stupid feature and it was just so much more effective to do mybediting as the cursor jumped to the position BETWEEN the letters in stead of FLOATING ALL OVER.
It’s nice on slides when presenting a new fancy feature, but completely useless for s ‘professional’ (focused) user.
PS yes I recall those old Apple adds - saw them when they were brand new and Apple was a better details oriented company (I miss those days….)
It does not matter if you crop an image taken with a 50mm lens to get the same area of the motive as taken with a 300mm lens from the same ‘standpoint’ - there will be no difference between foreground and background (except for grain and noise - but that’s another story… ;-)
You have to move the camera to change that.
This is often seen in movies (those shot on real film) as opposed to on video as zoom lenses are often used without moving the camera, film based often use a dolly to move the camera. The effect of combining zoom and camera movement to keep the same crop of the foreground while having a dramatic effect of the background quickly getting larger/closer (or vice versa) is really effective - also in illustrating this concept.
In my early life (before taking the education as a photographer) I was really liking wide angles as it brought ‘life’ in to a lot of pictures. Wide as in 24 mm for my 35mm camera (Nikon F2, from 1973 should you wonder) was a favorite, replacing my 28 mm.
Too bad full frame digital is still so expensive. Using a 14-24 f/4 on the DX format in (Nikon D7100) just is’nt the same.
So now the iPhone is the most used camera (you know - the camera you have with you…!)
Nu then - having 37 mio people just in one city, Tokyo, does require you to get the logistics in order (all of Denmark is just around 6 mio…)
As mentioned earlier in the thread, keyboard shortcuts are built-in, not missing or bolted on later…!
I find it sad that cover art is reduced/dead due to 12” -> 120mm -> gone (LP -> CD -> mp3/streaming.
I really enjoy my covers for all the ‘old’ music I have.
Thank you Rockaway Records from where I bought > 1.000 vinyls when living is LA in ‘87…!
