And if not? Roll the dice on when you might get stranded? Its not an active recall, so you can't just take it in to get the new part.
It's not years old news, I was looking at used models and it still is an ongoing question. Having no real fix (time will tell if the 2026 revised part is reliable) and leaving owners with a potential brick (and re-servicing it again when the part dies) is completely unacceptable. Many Kia's were lemon'ed based on this issue.
Maybe I'm sensitive as I have a young child, but I will not buy a car with a known potential of stranding me.
Kia (and Hyundai) have a big problem with their ICCUs dying. They extended the warranty but no fix, which means your car could die at any time.
It's not against code in all locations. You're essentially adding a power cord to your furnace and turning it's existing panel connection into an outlet.
Eg, in North Dakota
"If manufacturer instructions allow the use of not more than six feet of flexible appliance cord, it shall be permitted on permanently installed one hundred twenty volt twenty amp or less fuel-fired furnaces in residential dwellings."

The post is making 0 demands, they're made a valid statement and moving off Ubuntu.
You can run a fridge, natural gas furnace and some lights for a few days on 5kWh (I've done it a few times).
EVs have 60kWh+, which should get you through a week (if not two) easily.
Hacky way is to install a plug on your furnace that you can connect directly to a generator or power station. Takes maybe 5$ in parts and is DIYable.
Lots of tutorials on YouTube.
This is fun, thanks for the note on "hard mode" (maybe call it Settings instead of Appearance).
It was extremely annoying to have it auto skip punctuation. Maybe you should just ignore the keypresses for punctuation marks instead of showing a red indicator for the next character.
Poke at it and explore! Things on the internet do not owe anyone anything.
The nice thing about solar is that you can start small and add incrementally.
I dont know what the $4500 includes, but you can fairly easily get 1kw of solar and 5kWh battery and inverter for 1k USD.
All my air filters are sized to clean air while being quiet.
Turning them up to med/high would just cause too much airflow.
Does that mean your air doesn't get filtered if you stop or decide to turn down the white noise?
I prefer having quiet air filters that I can run all day (based on air quality) instead of noisy ones I only use at night.
It's likely Apple is optimizing for the unfolded experience rather than the outer screen.
While researching Samsung folding phones, I found it interesting that some users seem to rarely unfold it. I'd guess the Samsung did the opposite and chose an aspect ratio matching regular phones, which gives the inner display suboptimal usability, especially for media.
Getting tired of all the bystander commentary. It's a toy for rich people. If there's 0 chance you're going to buy it, who really cares about your opinion.
Because managing disks/volumes/partitions sucks from an ops perspective.
It's for the ultra rich and a tech showcase, so probably will be classified as off-road use only.
From the interview, they says it takes 6-8 hours to fill and you get 1 "launch" before its depleted in under a second.
Used EV's can be had for sub 25k all day long. The Slate is also technically sub 25k
Systemd is declarative runtime, but doesn't handle the deployment spec.
Noone builds anything without a vision of what it will look like. Blueprints are declarative specs. Why bother with instructions if you dont need to?
Many projects, like Immich, only provide docs for docker images/compose deployment.
Pets are totally fine if you consistency/reliability arent that important. Homelabs can be fun ;)
Not requiring friends/family to use a client to access my services is so much simpler.
I also use Adguard which act a VPN to filter traffic. I dont feel like messing around to get both working.
Self hosting is great. The access part is hard.
Pangolin was the missing piece I needed, to not expose my servers to the internet and easily have my services publicly accessible with built in auth.
Tailscale kind of worked, but it was a hassle needing the client on mobile device and it being a VPN.
With vibe coding, I have more of my own apps running than pre-built.
Running all these services without a declarative/standard way of deployment, ie docker compose or k3s/k8s is a bit mind boggling to me.
I self host on a bunch of different hardware, OSes, providers. I want the least fiddling as possible.
Its a single config that lets you run multiple services (and can keep them running), upgrades are just editing an image tag.
Don't have to look at cli docs to figure out how to run it.
Doesn't have access to my file system, logs are easy.
Nest hub also likely does little locally and sends everything to Google.
Any portable device as a Matter hub would be pretty useless.
The Apple TV and Homepod mini already support Matter.
IME The amount of time spent on shopping and managing for a cheapo VM isn't worth it, considering you'll likely only be able to fit one service per server.
Id rather have a single more powerful server and host everything there.
Piracy is rampant, platform providers aren't going to be able to keep up, especially in this AI age.
IME, the best route is to disincentivize it, make it harder to copy (obfuscation , etc) or just change your product/lower friction.
If people don't want ads, offer a low-cost ad free option. Having auto-play video ads is extremely distracting.
