Hey that's what we get CUPS auto-discovery for.

It seems like getting projectors to run is really the hardest problem in computer science.
It's lighter on resources and requires less permissions (so it's more private).

manifest v3 is not as bad idea as some people are saying

Judging from his replies, this is not the first time he had problems with the review system
manifest v3 is actually not a bad idea at all. it's more efficient, more private.

Other note

Sooner or later you will hit html/template, and realize it's actually very weird and has a lot of weird issues.

Don't use html/template.

I grew to like Templ instead

At least this time there is no kickstarter/presale/NFT
Palworld is much worse game than even the recent half-assed Pokemon games

Yeah and I respect fast food chains in this regard. So, that makes sense.
Re:How to Succeed in Mrbeast Production (Leaked PDF) on Monday September 16, 2024 @04:00AM (#41553811)
I hate the actual content he produces - the first time I watched it, I kept thinking it's a trailer because of all the cuts and I wondered, where is the actual video, when I realized no, I am watching the actual video - but I have to commend the grind.

He is trully obsessive about getting the most views, almost soullessly designing the perfect viral content, caring about every second. He literally starts with the thumbnail and title and only then works out the rest of the video!

I also like this 2 years old video of visiting his studio. This guy literally sleeps in his giant studio, everything is super optimized.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUzpK0tGFcE

Of course the end result is entirely pointless. But still. I respect the grind.

(I also love when he "builds 1000 houses in Africa" or whatever, and he usually never even mentions the country or the place name. It's not that important. But at least he does some good, I guess.)

Re:Internet Archive loses appeal over eBook lending on Friday September 06, 2024 @04:40AM (#41464191)
The compromise is obviously unilaterally decided by Archive, as demonstrated by the fact they randomly decided to not even honor that "compromise".
Re:Internet Archive loses appeal over eBook lending on Thursday September 05, 2024 @05:49AM (#41455104)
No it's not.

Libraries don't make copies. They lend you the actual books.

Copyright is literally right to copy. Scanning the book and doing something with, such as lending it forward, is copying.

(The covid thing strengthens the case of the book guys - the CDL suddenly let anyone get anything because Archive decided to change the rules unilaterally)

This makes way more sense.
I mean horizontal and vertical centering is the hardest thing in computer science
He also has a French citizenship despite having no connections to France, which he somehow magically gotten due to "merit foreigner" status in 2021.

Le Monde couldn't figure out why he gotten that citizenship, there is very little detail.

>Durov was naturalized as a French citizen in August 2021, giving him European Union citizenship. Le Monde described the naturalisation as "mysterious", since Durov had not resided in France apart from brief visits. Le Monde suggested that Durov was naturalised via the rarely used "merit foreigner" procedure that is awarded directly by the French government to people viewed to have contributed exceptionally to France's international influence or international economic relations.

Re:Wp2hugo: Best WordPress to Hugo migrator (written in Go) on Wednesday August 28, 2024 @10:08AM (#41379715)
It's a static site generator. You have some templates, some content, some themes, all in a repo.

Hugo looks at that and generates some HTML that you then need to somehow serve yourself.

It has some positives and negatives with respect to WordPress. Mostly, unlike WordPress, you don't have auth (authentication AND authorization) within the system itself, but have some access to some repo+some CI system+some upload system+some HTTP server through.... some other means.

Re:Fixing a Bug in Google Chrome as a First-Time Contributor on Wednesday August 28, 2024 @03:50AM (#41377054)
Interesting.

The only time I had problems was very big JSONs with everything on one line, but prettifying fixed that. (Or was it XML? I forgot. One of those.)
