Getting small details right is something everyone thinks is obvious. But how to achieve it without becoming mired in processes and keeping work going is a skill that is very difficult to cultivate and a very difficult problem to solve. Requiring a lot of clever people skills. Warms my heart to hear stuff like this.

Re:Bet on German Train Delays on Wednesday March 04, 2026 @07:43AM (#47246662)

Re:Why mathematicians hate Good Will Hunting on Tuesday March 03, 2026 @02:04PM (#47237118)
The author of the blog post has missed the point that Robbie Williams is trying to make in the movie. Its not about math. Math part of the movie is irrelevant. Also its not about someone hiding a talent and getting found, that's a prop too.

Its actually about a person who has been abused all his life finally allowing himself to love himself and allowing others to love him.

Re:Don't use passkeys for encrypting user data on Saturday February 28, 2026 @06:38PM (#47201741)

The idea is of general purpose computing. In past, you could restrict access without restricting most freedoms. Today's world, restricting access means restricting access to a ggeneral purpose computer. And thats the biggest deal.

This is the liability part.

If the same work can be done abroad with less money, then it's time to place sanctions on govts that allows their workers to be underpaid.
Given how hard AI is on I/O, while restarting if hardware might go second hand. I dont see hard drives go second hand. Most hardware that we get might be used beyond redeeming even at free price.
Not all humans, I can easily see myself being confused the question and assuming that the person is already at the car wash and this being some idealized physics scenario and then answering wrongly. But I did get a PhD in math, so may be that explains it?

Yes. Thats the decision that we need. Right? Do we want to actually make this pseudo political union into a proper political union? Because it is seeming more and more than instead what we will get is break up of the union.
These (and not just limited to elections here now) are exactly the same issues that come up when non-EU migrants want to do stuff in EU. And the argument the OP makes has always been my argument. Fine, you hate migrants, good for you. But what about other Europeans who are getting the short stick with your national rules? No one has a good answer for this.

FWIW: I am a non-EU migrant.
