What narrative? That science is important? https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2242349/#!po=15...
There's more where that came from.

I'm a firearms enthusiast and was shocked to read that the rotating trigger mechanism wasn't outlawed. It almost definitely will be after this massacre.
I also think that this is a strong case of genetics at play considering that the shooter didn't even spend time with his bank robber father. The psychopath apple didn't fall far from the psychopath tree.

I think it's funny that you chose hover boards. I haven't seen one in use in any major US city I've visited this year. I'm sure some people still use them, but thanks to terrible Chinese engineering that caused fires and failures, I don't know anyone that's bought one after the first couple of months that they were a fad.
Re:Dear Amazon, We Picked Your New Headquarters for You

I noticed that people pushing Philadelphia never mention its bad crime rate. Amazon might not be explicitly mentioning that in the criteria, but I'm sure it can't help.
Re:Amazon cuts Whole Foods prices
on Thursday August 24, 2017 @08:39PM (#15095253)
I agree. So far my grocery experience with Amazon has been awful. Two items were returned by the shipper due to damage before they even got to my house. Another was crushed when it got to my house because Amazon's packaging was terrible. They kept trying to give me a refund instead of a replacement and all I could say was "I ordered this food because I wanted to buy it and eat it, why would I just want my money back?". So if that's how they manage to run Whole Foods, then I guess I'm all-in on Trader Joe's.

I saw the FLIP when I was sailing one time. If I hadn't previously read about it I probably would have called the coast guard because it looked like a ship going down.

I really hope that some massive lawsuits finally put and end to this. Amazon deserves anything bad that comes their way. The amount of fake items I've received from them is awful.

Considering that the CEO of Admiral considers himself a "beloved VC" (literally his words), I'm guessing he'll keep stepping up his agressive tactics. Typical sociopathic behavior from the type that believes that money trumps everything and that everyone worships him.

No, extended stay places do not require an extended stay. They are just equipped to provide for an extended stay should you choose to do so.

Just because some Wikipedia editor writes something doesn't make it a fact. There are other relevant quotes in there from the governments of the U.K. And US saying that it's not a chemical weapon.

I'd say that Chavez and his family doing more to enrich themselves than plan for the country's future when oil prices inevitably dropped played a large part.

Most likely there won't be any developments until the fall when the effects of the FTC settlement are reported in Herbalife's earnings. But that will only show how well they evaded the judgment since the FTC has been lacking on the enforcement front for a long time.

Once again the 9th circuit makes a ridiculous decision that hopefully gets overturned. The fact that they sided with Facebook in that lawsuit shows how out-of-touch they are with reality. Hopefully it gets overturned.

Sad to see you downvoted. I believe that government employees who actively prevent access to publicly-owned data should be fired immediately.

Why don't you sue them? It's a government agency, and I believe that the data should be available under New York's public records laws (I only have limited experience with NY's laws and IANAL). From personal experience, being nice to a government agency never got me anywhere, but our lawyer has a 95% win rate against them.

Is there some reason you want to see Ev succeed? He sounds like another egomaniacal founder who doesn't care about his friends (Noah Glass) or employees. And it sounds like he's pretty good at coming up with products people love but pretty bad at getting them to have revenue that beats expenses (Twitter, Medium).

Actually, if you look at donations in the last election government employees in all branches donated over 85% to Clinton. So I'm not sure I'd say overwhelmingly Rebublican by any means.
Re:America’s opioid epidemic is worsening

I know the United States will never do it, but Singapore barely has a drug problem because they execute dealers and have mandatory treatment for users. I'm not advocating the ridiculous policy that the Phillipines has, but Singapore doesn't mess around if they find distribution levels of illegal drugs on you. There also needs to be much stricter control of new prescriptions for opioids, which lead to addiction.

In a weird way, yes. There are deaf groups that believe that having cochlear implants is unnatural, and that the government needs to enforce compliance with ADA rules for people who could technically get permanent hearing. Now, not all deaf people are curable, but it's still insane to me that 10,000 people could lose access to something because one person insists that they, too, get access.
Re:California Dam Crisis Could Have Been Averted

Actually plenty of people foresaw a problem with this dam and multiple other dams in CA. I have a friend who worked on dams in CA 20 years ago who told me that they weren't getting the maintenance and upgrades they needed and it was only a matter of time before there was a failure. And he never even worked in this particular dam.

That's great, they can make more beaches be like Dockweiler, the most "diverse" on the chart. Where one can currently experience gangs, graffiti, littering and constant violations of the law that the lifeguards and tiny police presence are incapable of enforcing.
