Re:MySQL 8.0 is now generally available on Thursday April 19, 2018 @10:59AM (#16876446)
As far as I am aware there is no good reason to not use MariaDB instead of MySQL. The creator of MariaDB, Monty Widenius, was on a episode of the changelog podcast if you want to hear some background as to why.
Re:Qubes OS: A reasonably secure operating system on Sunday November 19, 2017 @02:07PM (#15735329)
I am using both Qubes and Nix(OS) and would love to combine the two somehow. Nix store doesn't mix well with the template system used by Qubes.
Re:Qubes OS: A reasonably secure operating system on Sunday November 19, 2017 @01:59PM (#15735289)
I run Qubes OS on my Thinkpad T430s for 1.5 years now. Everything worked out of the box.

If you have your keys on an air gapped computer with an encrypted hard-disk, I don't see the need to use an additional password on the private keys.
Re:Webflow – Interactions 2.0 on Tuesday October 24, 2017 @02:02PM (#15543704)
I signed up to try Webflow. Unfortunately Firefox is not supported. I guess the "Only works in Chrome" really is the new "Works best in IE6".
Re:How to intercept all Wire voice and video calls on Friday January 20, 2017 @01:23PM (#13445754)
Is it really based in Switzerland? If you look at the jobs page, they are all in Berlin. My guess would be registred in Switzerland, based in Germany and Data stored in Irland.

No, but it is marked for the 1.0 release: https://github.com/hyperium/hyper/issues/304
Re:Towards Idris Version 1.0 on Wednesday November 30, 2016 @03:57PM (#13074621)
Richard A. Eisenberg has a nice comparison of Dependent Haskell with Idris and Liquid Haskell in his PhD. thesis[1]. There is a difference between refinement types and dependent types. In Liquid Haskell you basically state some predicates and then let the SMT solver figure out whether they are true. With Dependent Types you have to do all the legwork, but they are also more powerful.

Where did you get the fact that they are ready from the technology point of view? Switzerland is part of the Generation IV International Forum and is represented by the Paul Scherrer Institute. According to their Website[1]: "Before a commercial MSR can go into service anywhere in the world, scientists and engineers have another 20 to 30 years of research and development ahead of them." The Chinese plan to build the first MSRs in 15 years, whether they will succeed is another question. If the price for solar keeps dropping it won't make sense to build new nuclear power plants in a few years.

Re:React: Mixins Considered Harmful on Wednesday July 13, 2016 @01:56PM (#12088228)
You have to consider that react was the first (popular) implementation of a virtual dom. We learned a tremendous amount how to implement and use the virtual dom in the mean time. And react isn't a framework, it only implements the view layer.
