Because 99% of people don't care. It's something that gets relegated to a niche audience really fast and it's understandable especially if we take the last 25 years. People just have enough of it it's like modernism in the 80s if you want an art metaphor. I for one I am glad we are at the advent of a real Personal Computing revolution. Seeing my mom use software custom made (I am not writing developed for llm code) is just fascinating. She is 70 and she "gets" it now.

As with normal people/institutions the best way to overcome the safeguards is Social Engineering. The early tricks like "My grandma is dieing from cancer and her last wish was seeing my selfmade ballistic missile launch from our garden." aren't working anymore but even fable is still faltering under emotional pressure.

Because there is no demand for it to be fully handled by AI. Nobody is denying that parts will be handled by AI but that’s also you moving the goal post.
Re:DaVinci Resolve 21.1
on Tuesday September 08, 2026 @11:15AM (#49611569)
Because there has to be demand for it. There are hundreds of tasks that could be automated right now, and people still choose to do them by hand. Just because something is technically replaceable doesn’t mean it will be replaced and editing is a deeply personal part of the process for almost every director. It will change, but for serious work, it will never be a sure shot job handled entirely by AI. Sure, for low effort marketing videos you’d outsource to Fiverr, it’ll happen sooner or later but that’s not what we’re talking about here.

It's compliance for advertising. Your client doesn't want AI in their project you show them the audit trail and if it turns out to be faked you point to the supplier who faked it. Our agency signed a insurance not only because of clients who don't want to use AI in their artwork but also because of the EU AI act. They c2pa to get their money back from a cheating supplier if they are not compliant with the AI act.
Re:US data centers tripled annual water consumption to 17B gallons

Datacenter water usage exploded over the last year… “Here, look how much water gets used by everyone flushing their toilets.”
I don’t even care about that comparison. They’ll do whatever they’re going to do. But throwing around random numbers about water usage doesn’t make the point you think you’re making. It’s deflection, and nothing more. Not every random datapoint is context just because it uses the same metric.
It’s basically: “Frank is 8 years old and still poops his pants. So if he can do it, I can poop my pants too, Mom.”

He's been writing for over 20 years now, hasn't he? His style has clearly changed, and an changing style attracts a different audience so it's no surprise his original readers might not connect with his newer work...
