Re:Bicycling Street Smarts, Chapter 6: Using Your Brakes (2001)

Your lucky, my disk breaks have certainly saved my life in SF more than once. The one that really sticks with me is watching the cyclist in front of me fly into the air from getting hit by a speeding car ignoring the no right turn sign. If I had not braked hard I would have hit the side of that car.
I spoke with the police after offering to testify and they did not want to take a report even saying it was an insurance matter. I twisted their arm but later after getting in touch with the hit cyclist who was nearly killed again offering to testify found out they threw my report away. The injured cyclist was so traumatized he just wanted to put it behind him.
I got lots of stories and have been hit multiple times, had a friend killed on her cycle. I hate that the narative is all about defensive cycling and not that cars kill and no one cares especially SF cops.

AWS is ISO and SOC certified so they get audited on physical security. I can m trust that they dis it right because they passed their audit. I don't have time to go bother AWS about their security cameras and key card procedures.

Interesting, maybe also the development costs too. They sell way less volume of HSMs compared to the standard keys but the HSM's require I'm sure some very rigorous development and testing.

I think HSM's are just expensive because of price gouging rather than cost of the device? Like the Yubikey HSM is the same form factor as the Nano FIPS key but over 10x the price.

personally I think 1 month is the peak for me. I love that feeling of building a routine in a new place. Right now I feel like any place is going to get boring because we are stuck. May as well trade apartments for a month so we can get tired of a different routine and then miss the comforts of your home. Some time away makes the grass seem greener.
