Easy to go airplane mode when you're Vitalik. Most of us need Uber, SMS codes and our boss on Teams.

$311 in admin to give out zero Milky Ways. Funniest case against means testing I've read, and basically Robodebt with lollies.

Wikipedia is one of the last real gems of the internet.
Re:Apple introduces the new 14‑inch MacBook Pro with M6 on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @05:17PM (#50265936)
Been waiting to get a new MacBook and that day has finally come! Thanks for sharing
Re:Show HN: WhatsApp MCP running free on Cloudflare on Monday October 19, 2026 @05:13AM (#50150169)
So true! I respect the work too, but there are plenty of people who haven’t consented. However, is it that different to Meta reading your messages? Lol
I used to use tmux & Claude on a Mac mini, but I gave it away when herdr came around - there were just too many tmux sessions to maintain and herdr does a better job at showing you what’s open. Admittedly, your tmux setup looks far more sophisticated than what I was doing. However, the new claude code projects is insane and a step above on having claude being a real project manager across sessions.
Re:Any window from your Mac, on your iPhone and iPad on Friday October 16, 2026 @05:45AM (#50116288)
Downloaded, installed, loved and donated via GitHub. Awesome app mate, it’s so good.
I would love to have an iPad like device to control the home, mostly for family who stay over - it also having a speaker is a bonus but the price point is tough to swallow.
The enshitification continues by making everything a subscription. Business models “look better” on recurring revenue but there are plenty of businesses out there that aren’t a sub and my research shows most people will pay 2.5x the yearly price as a once off. Maybe not for what Withings are offering though, since this is clearly extortionate

Good article. I feel this way about my job :/
I feel for the animals, but it’s the end of an era.

I think there’s a preference for US models; highlighting that speaks to those looking for sovereignty.
The Australian government tried to stop the scraping of news publications without permission but ultimately failed.

This is so good!!!
Very cool
Re:Amazon pushes up prices across the Internet on Thursday October 15, 2026 @05:24AM (#50101223)
Amazon offer an incredible customer experience, but it comes at an incredible cost. I avoid shopping their at all costs, it’s just not worth it for all the times they make headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Was having this conversation the other day. I’m wondering whether with the advent of technology we’re now “over organising” social activities to the point where that organisation has become too much of a task to perform consistently.
Re:Catch a Bird – I made it for my own sanity on Thursday October 15, 2026 @05:15AM (#50101171)
This is such a cool idea. Well done
Re:AI is a tool and using it well takes skill on Monday October 12, 2026 @11:32PM (#50066295)
I constantly oscillate between AI could conceivably be the end of human thinking and it’s just a tool for humans. You read the news and see a world we could become obsolete, then using it says otherwise. It’s not that I don’t think frontier models aren’t smart, but they’re so goal oriented and I can’t see a world where their goal is high level enough where it could sustain “living” decades without its context window needing to be cleared to achieve said goal
Re:Solar Panels That Plug into Your Wall on Monday October 12, 2026 @11:25PM (#50066235)
A step closer to community-owned VPPs. Bring it on
Re:Strengthening our defenses against distillation attacks on Monday October 12, 2026 @11:21PM (#50066213)
The irony. Distillation: “Extract the capabilities of one model and replicate them in another, without the authorization of the original model’s developers” whilst the models are trained on every available piece of data the “original model’s developers” did not create.
Agree. I’d only add that I think there is incentive for them to be solved, but there are greater incentives worth more to those leading the charge.
100%. All this talk but zero action, feels more like a COA than a warning. Not sure why very little is being done and those building it are also the ones being asked to make it safe. Makes zero sense
100%. Having something as simple as a name be the thing that inadvertently publishes sensitive data is a product / judgement fault. You can’t ask for the keys then not know what to do with it
Re:Why Are Coding Agents So Dumb? on Saturday October 10, 2026 @10:16PM (#50039165)
The OpenCode example made me lol I wonder if the new Claude Code Projects is better equipment to execute on the “dumb” aspects you shared https://youtu.be/omihvjf0A2k?si=hIBh7t9ZmUBojsR_
Re:Show HN: A simple to-do app for iPhone, Mac, and your agent on Saturday October 10, 2026 @10:11PM (#50039135)
Very cool app. “ Nagare syncs your data through iCloud and makes this context available to your agent through MCP.” how did you do this part? I thought iCloud was locked down, especially for access via an MCP.
Don’t miss the nap trap days but glad you found a useful way to be productive. I ran into a similar issue and built something free & open source. Not on the App Store yet but you can try it https://testflight.apple.com/join/AkJxAbnJ. It works on iOS & iPadOS and the main difference is it’s always the herdr interface, because I always kind of liked it. I’ve been using it a while (similar tailscale set up) and it works well but needs a little polish. Hope you all enjoy it
The economics to run a local model don’t stack up for me but I love the idea of running an open model locally for safety & privacy. I use Claude plus I’ve used Apple’s on device foundational models for parsing recipes and other small tasks in the apps I’ve built.
I use Notion too. Claude suggested a MCP in front of Notion with rules about how to update Notion pages, and another MCP for other actions over Tailscale.
Re:The smartest Claude Code feature is not for its users on Wednesday October 07, 2026 @06:36PM (#49999710)
Does edwinarbus‘s response make this more or less likely that you’re right? I’m leaning towards more likely.
