Not only that, but the ai could just spit out a premade .conf file for the terminal. Insanity. Or use herdr and a good looking harness for Claude cli….
I've seen people use those three words to make a dig at zuckerberg before, but I never put 2 and 2 together and realized the quote until just now. I think the comma was essential, made my brain automatically read it correctly... Wiseau voice and all, lol.
More on-topic: I remain amazed by how the past quarter century of American legislation has included one overwhelming boon for corporations after another. Once corporations could give an infinitly higher amount of political contributions when compared to individual citizens, it became clear that the overall well-being and happiness of corporations was the only real political focus. Anything that doesnt directly or indirectly benefit a group of corporations is almost always designed to manipulate the electorate through invented/perceived/embiggened/non-cromulent "social issues".
I totally thought the other guy had you in the argument, and your retort blew my mind. An excellent point, people really need to research their runtimes before placing the entirety of your infra on them.
Then again, I suppose that’s partially the reasoning for the existence of support contracts.
I’m just going to add this here, but: was this whole thing just an aquihire? The dude is a badass, so I can see buying deno just to get him… skillset matches the areas cloadflare has roadmapped out, but still needs to shore up (a lot)
Well, the type of places that OP described are full of service people, paid the best wage that people with little training can make, because they can ALWAYS be nice and welcoming… even when being screamed at and spat upon by the rudest, meanest, and most despicable nepo-jerk you could imagine!
But, aside from the convenient access to the underground, I’m really intrigued by what you found “inspiring” about this place?
(I don’t know a single thing about it, never even heard of it, so I’m torn as to which of you two to believe… lol)
If you imagine someone speaking that comment out loud, but speaking as if they were giving a keynote at a Meta or Apple dev con, it becomes much easier to read. The commas and dramatic ellipses just fell into place as I read. Like the matrix, but instead of green kanji raining down, it’s readability-increasing punctuation.
lol
“‘Drink… More…. Ovaltine’, It’s just a crummy ad!?!?”
crumples up cypher and tosses awayHoliday movie references aside, I guess we can chalk up a few more jobs on the ‘AI Took Our Jerb’ board: secret decoder rings, secret decoder ring-factory workers, and Enigma machine operators… and I guess cryptography-based puzzle enthusiasts, but that’s not a paid position.
Another tangent, I’ve only recently realized the OTHER AI took our ______ problem: all the various hobbies that people can spend a lifetime enjoying, perhaps incrementally improving (but most likely never mastering) over the years…. which have now been made much less exciting and rewarding, now that AI can do them instantly. Art and music are two very obviously implicated hobbies, but more niche hobbies like amateur cryptography are impacted too. I’m sure there are many many other examples…
That’s such a damning quote, that it makes all other comments ITT obsolete lol
I’m pretty sure Kagi’s entire pitch is that they’re an alternate and original dataset. Theirs is the only search engine whose data isn’t based upon google or bing’s databases.
To anyone who didn’t find Kagi useful in the past, I strongly recommend you try it again, as they have made huge strides in usability and quality of surfaced data in just the past year…. Huge strides since even a few months ago too, with more adaptive curation, data labeling, and UI/UX
Hahaha adding credit… after that credit had already existed, then been removed and the history of its removal spirited away?
Yeah, they’re totally being forthright. /s
For the amount of money Google’s engineers are paid, I expect you guys to be able to tell your manager when you’ve used OSS code, since you already have a proven worth to the software engineering ecosystem as a whole… that’s why you’re a googler. If you’re too afraid to make sure attribution is properly documented, perhaps due to your only engineering knowledge centering around basic understanding of VCSs, then perhaps you’re not yet ready for the high-stakes lifestyle of a Fortune 50 Engineer.
Which makes Arizona an interesting place to place any new builds of any sort of data center. They’ve been talking about the scarcity of resources there for years, and it’s currently in an escalating tailspin of abundance. Power is cheap as hell there, but once the water dries up… things might change quickly.
Haha all of those are .today aliases. Not sure the hate over him ddosing the guy doxxing him. .today’s paywall circumvention is also why miscellaneous groups have tried to report him to the FBI over planted CSAM material, among other horrible harassment. I think we should all give him a second chance for the huge amount of time, both before and after the stupid and short lived ddos incident, that he has dedicated to archiving.
His identity must be secretive, as he has already drawn the ire of many powers that be, so… I personally think the ddos incident was justified… and I’m glad my bandwidth helped in any way, frankly. Some people seem to really want to portray him as some shady evil bad guy, and after all the hit jobs against him in the past year or two, I really wonder who these anti-archive.today people actually are and what they’re motivations are (besides money).
My house is a ~700 sqft. condominium, gov. subsidized for lower income individuals, and even my mortgage is more than 300k… maybe I’m just basing my info off of coastal city prices, but is it possible to buy a reasonably nice home located in a reasonably nice amerikkkan city… for $300k in 2026?
I just bought a Framework Desktop. Would have been nice to get it at the introductory price, or perhaps the new 192gb model refresh they’re now teasing, but I settled and got a 64 gb model. At the time, the 128’s price had already risen again, but the 64’s price was still at a lower price.
64 can still easily do a Qwen 4.8 model, so I’m relatively happy with my purchase… plus, it’s price change has caused it to quickly appreciate in value… so I could sell it if my situation ever turned dire lol
“Old man yells at cloud”
lol, but seriously, you’re definitely correct. Bloated binaries and unnecessary frameworks (electron and soon, tauri). Everything is built for the web, then forced into a broken and bloated mobile app and desktop binary. Zero platform optimization anymore.
I keep my chromium and chromium profile loaded into a ram drive, and it’s still slow and sluggish. Tech debt and a growing monorepo has damaged it beyond recovery. I really hope those two new browser engines reach a usable state soon. Chromium, WebKit, gecko have been doing for too long without a full foundational overhaul.
Isn’t this what Venice.AI is essentially trying to do?
They have a stupid plan to buy ten to fifty percent of all the SOTA AI companies, and giving us all a fraction of the money.
Trump keeps calling his enemies “communists”… then turns around and ‘seizes the means of production’ himself.
Yes buuuut…. I do quite a bit of day trading (maybe closer to scalping) for the first few hours the market is open, everyday. Anecdotally: despite everyone knowing its valuation was ridiculous, I rode that SpaceX train pretty hard and made a pretty penny.
I close-out all my positions by end-of-trading everyday… so when the day came when there was a very clear and very scary indicator during early trading hours, quickly followed by SpaceX’s catastrophic fall right after opening bell, that was the end of my involvement….
And I fully expect oAI and anthro to be the same way. They’re being propped up with private loans, subsidies, and other tricky bookkeeping techniques. You would think their CEOs would pivot away from their current public personas. Ironically, they are like a poor man’s Elon Musk… and that doesn’t bode well for their companies
I think its way different in the EU vs the USA. In the United States, the number of people with passports HAS dramatically increased in the past 30 years, going from ~5% to a little more than 50%; but we mainly use them for traveling once or twice / getting into bars when you’re a 22yo with a misplaced driver’s license.
More relevant to the topic at hand, it’s extremely rare to receive an unsolicited call to an American phone number from a number outside the +1 country code. So I’m sure when an immigrant in the US gets an unknown call from their home country code, they can be pretty sure the call’s intentional and worth answering
Mechanical Woodpecker? I thought they were called drinking birds….
lol, if you bothered to check the reference your “article” stole from, you’d find a medium post that includes ANOTHER link to a follow up medium post entitled, “I was wrong about data center water consumption”
It’s not 6 billion per day. It’s 650 billion per day. In the United States alone.

lol
Yeah, I could imagine golf being a sore spot for Indians. I never imagined India would even be a hotspot for golf, but given the amount of corruption going on, it would make sense that golf courses would be foisted upon the public. It’s always discouraging to see the amount of upper class Indians who, despite colonial times being long gone, are still very willing to sell out their countrymen to appease whites or to fit a British/white ideal.
I hope I’m wrong about this impression, and I’m just seeing cherry picked news articles, but your reaction makes me think otherwise….
1. Can we stack two lanes on top of each other, please? Make homemade bunklanes?
2. Something about preventing people from rubbing the bowling balls on your precious lanes.
3. Laser light shows + Liquor license = Bowling Alley Wine Mixer
Sorry, I got overly excited by your reference. I say that so GD much, at least once a month, for nearly 20 years now haha. SOOO much room for activities!
Welcome to a glimpse into the pathetic life [if one can even call it a life…] of a sad and wretched creature — the poor humans born with a deficiency of attention and an abundance of activity. This is a universal experience for the lost souls who stumble through life, burdened with a despicable and perverted simulacrum of a normal human’s brain, condemned with a condition more commonly known as…
The Dangerously Corrupted and Criminally Insane Mind of the ADHD Afflicted!
I’ve always been amazed at how differently the PHEV, HFC, and standard EV market ended up (well, until recently) playing out, in Japan Vs The Rest of the World. I always found the hydrogen stations here in California to be an interesting anomaly — but once you learn about the infrastructure and vehicles forced on the Japanese by gov/corp alliance, you really get a fascinating ‘alternate reality/history’ localized entirely on the island of Japan lol
Having a health problem that puts an end date on your effort must tint your business choices in a unique and interesting way. I find your ideas intriguing, and wish to subscribe to your newsletter.
Not to mention, the person who brought this quote unquote jailbreak to the Trump Administration was Amazon’s new CEO. They know their IPOs are coming up, so locking their competitors out of the U.S. (even if just for the weeks surrounding the IPO date) would be a major boon.
The White House seems to love making announcements just for the sake of making the market move…. Coincidentally, right after POTUS buys a massive amount of the benefactory company’s stock
(Buy Dell Computers, lol)
“DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA OF THE PRICE FOR THE PARTS AND LABOR TO REPLACE A SINGLE, GENUINE, APPLE-BRAND, 2021, MACBOOK PRO KEYCAP?!?! CALL THE ACCOUNTANTS, WE WONT BE PAYING TAXES FOR A FEW YEARS!!!”
Spoken like a true autist… perhaps with a side of obsession and compulsion syndrome
DEVELOPERS, DEVELOPERS, DEVELOPERS, DEVELOPERS.
DEVELOPERS, DEVELOPERS, DEVELOPERS, DEVELOPERS.
WHOOOOOOOOOO!!!
also, where is the new version of Visual Basic, Ballmer? Your sweaty chants can only distract me for so long…. Wait….. ITS BEEN TWENTY YEARS!?!?
yeah, the best Ive seen is like 1.99 for two months, then back to normal pricing....
