Lesson for us all is that if we do not own the thing/project/etc, things can suddenly change without our decision, and all time we put into it might become a waste-of-effort retroactively

If I was a racer, I would absolutely care which racer got the credit.
Re:Lula wins election after final votes tallied on Monday October 26, 2026 @02:13AM (#50239755)
Didn't both parties request for the extension, or am I misinformed?
But how well will the CNN be able to write me a fanfiction of Dobby being in Lord of the Rings?
Re:A complete bypass of eMudhra’s 1FA OTP login system on Thursday October 22, 2026 @04:10PM (#50200326)
Could someone explain this? Does this mean that it enables logging in as any account in emudhras infra?

Sorry that you guys have to go through this. I use quad9 and it works great!
Re:There isn't an easy exploit for this PHP vulnerability on Thursday October 22, 2026 @02:28AM (#50191901)
I fell for the fear mongering, which annoys me.

It was some good drama, and honestly I didn't even know LLM was involved so heavily in it. But damn annoying that people blindly believed LLMs and I blindly believed those people.

Re:Starcraft: Ashfall on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @02:10AM (#50161972)
It's crazy how such a simple game can be so addictive. Solid game loop!
Hardware is becoming the choke-point. If that gets resolved, things will start to change even faster
You have a pretty neat philosophy. We do rely a lot on gifts!
Neat, thanks for sharing! Seems very convenient!
Re:Deno Is Joining Cloudflare on Friday October 09, 2026 @09:30AM (#50020267)
I'd guess Deno failed because of the original decision of not supporting node_modules, instead went with a different way of handling dependencies. Else the native typescript support would most likely had pushed them to bigger success past nodejs.

Though nodejs was even then quite solid in it's position, so maybe it would not have made a difference.

Can you tell how you configured the tool to accomplish this? It sounds very convenient!

Does it mean that the VPS has to be in-between all the traffic, or do we punch holes through the NAT for direct connections?

One mistake with your google account and poof, everything is gone.

Granted, an average person most likely will never mess up, but in google-land the surface area where to make that mistake is quite large.

Is that the prompt you would use, or is there more to it?
Re:VMPal – Virtual Machines for Apple Silicon and AI Agents on Wednesday October 07, 2026 @05:17AM (#49990222)
A very sleek product presentation, those guys really know their mac environments.

Funnily I get reminded of Vagrant. Maybe that technology is a solution to the sandboxing issue, because running a lightweight sandbox with an OS that has a GUI this time seems to be important.

20 years ago front-end devs really took that "front-end is not real programming" statement personally...

All of this could have been avoided had we just gotten a "good job" and a pat on the back when we showed our jquery scripts!

Jokes aside, looks impressive!

And the fact that you put in a disk and got to play, instead of waiting for an update the next 2 hours.
Re:Why Common Lisp Is Now the Best Programming Language on Tuesday October 06, 2026 @01:12AM (#49974454)
Spot on! People do really enjoy NOT having to change. We can come up with many excuses why we do not have to do anything different. I'm finding multiple rrasons why I should stick to laravel.

Could be said that it was the path of least resistance, but the funny thing is that most of that resistance is you just being in your own way.

Re:Commit description as a thinking tool on Friday October 02, 2026 @08:38AM (#49932824)
Interesting, thanks for sharing. Need to try it out!
Re:Pi 1.0 on Friday October 02, 2026 @07:46AM (#49932420)
One of the best parts about pi is the fact that it runs as a single agent. From what I've seen, multi-agent setups, like cursor and codex have not caused anything else than extra token usage, without any worthy benefit, at least when coding.

Pi without extensions, with a decent model that allows thinking to be disabled works really well, and is faster than multiple subagents.

Re:How Singapore's government-run dating service works on Friday October 02, 2026 @12:57AM (#49929978)
A very interesting solution to the problem. Surely this data will not be repurposed, right?

But if it helps likeminded people to find each other, then it absolutely has some value.

Re:Commit description as a thinking tool on Wednesday September 30, 2026 @03:22PM (#49913139)
Got an example of what you mean?
Re:Commit description as a thinking tool on Wednesday September 30, 2026 @03:21PM (#49913130)
On hindsight that should be obvious! Pre-write your commit message, because of course you know what you are going to work on!
Re:Dots: Always-on agents on Wednesday September 30, 2026 @01:04AM (#49904555)
Youre probably not the target audience, but at the same time, who exactly is?
Re:US Forces Exit Iraq on Tuesday September 29, 2026 @04:00AM (#49889724)
