London (Soho) | Senior Backend Engineer | Onsite | Full-time | £75k+, bonus, equity

CognitionX (https://cognitionx.com) is building a community and platform to bring clarity to the world of AI. Last year, our “festival of all things AI” in London (http://cogx.co) attracted more than 1,300 delegates, and it’s going to be even bigger this year!

Our web-based knowledge platform provides a wealth of data on thousands of AI-related companies, products, events, and people. It connects our clients with a comprehensive AI knowledge base, with our expert network of AI leaders, and provides a rich set of tools for making sense of the AI landscape.

We are looking for senior backend engineers with strong experience building modern web apps using Python and Django.

We use GitHub, code reviews, Heroku, and Amazon RDS so that we can rapidly iterate and stay focussed on what matters. We’ve worked hard to keep our processes and management structure as lightweight as possible.

You should have:

    - Strong knowledge of Python and its ecosystem
    - Track record of delivering Django web apps
    - Experience designing and building RESTful APIs
    - A good knowledge of git (or mercurial)
It would be great if you also had:

    - Frontend development skills, including JS and React
    - Operations/DevOps experience
    - Understanding of AI/ML techniques
And if you've published or contributed to any open-source software, then tell us about it!

Re:Croatia just canceled the debts of its poorest citizens on Monday February 02, 2015 @08:41AM (#8984074)
I think you answered your own question didn't you? Those companies were 'bailed out'. The government didn't just wipe out their debts by fiat; it gave them money.
I found a slightly more comprehensible translation of that Vedic quote:

Who knows from whence this great creation sprang?
He from whom all this great creation came.
Whether his will created or was mute,
The Most High seer that is in highest heaven,
He knows it - or perchance even He knows not.[1]

You don't matriculate from an institution. I think you mean 'graduate'.

Do they say anywhere what exactly it means for a country to have 'net neutrality', 'safe harbours' etc?

Re:Turning a laptop into a CCTV on Monday September 22, 2014 @12:19PM (#8351204)
Nice writeup!
He says he studied engineering. But he didn't. He studied computer science. And therein lies the root of his confusion.
Re:Hilbert's 24th problem on Tuesday August 19, 2014 @09:27AM (#8197119)
Sharmach! Pah! Everybody knows that it was Wang-Kleetch who solved the problem in 2094. The charlatan Sharmach merely read the pre-publication draft and claimed the work as his own.

It is hard to believe that this nonsense is still being promoted all this time later.

Probably because the US has by far the most extensive surveillance satellite programme in the world. Not many countries operate surveillance sats at all. France has a few. Israel and Japan have some. I know Britain has none at all and has a deal with the US to access its material.
Re:Videos about JavaScript on Friday July 11, 2014 @07:28AM (#8019599)
Why must JavaScript watch videos?
It's not socialist at all unless people are being forced against their will (or perhaps 'regardless of their will' would be more accurate) to contribute to some common project. Nobody in the open source world is being forced to do anything.
Not at all, because there is no coercion.

I wonder what's going on here: http://labs.strava.com/heatmap/#17/-0.01296/51.49360/gray/bi...

The location corresponds to a supermarket.
