Quick question, is this designed for people sending traffic blind i.e. from a blog or more for IT consultancies and system integrators?

Actually pretty much all versions of NetBSD run on CloudSigma as well as most BSD distributions. Not sure what the case is for EC2 but at CloudSigma you just FTP in a RAW ISO drive image. I found it pretty straightforward. I'm using FreeBSD primarily. See www.cloudsigma.com .

Nice point about Terremark and others being mostly traditional hosting/data centre businesses still. Pure play IaaS clouds definitely look interesting and probably a better purchase for telcos that aren't exactly lacking in real estate already!

Having just read the post I disagree. The post clearly says that most current vendors place significant restrictions on the software and networking layers in their cloud. As someone who has used GoGrid, Rackspace and AWS I can concur with this position. You have a lot less control over your cloud servers than you do over say a dedicated server.
CloudSigma are an IaaS provider who presumably take a different approach.
Overall I think it is a valid point for them to make, especially as it seems that a lot of these restrictions are vendor created.

Are you saying you can automate bringing up servers on your platform based on a price level?
