Re:GDPR consent design: how granular must adtech opt-ins be? on Wednesday January 10, 2018 @06:33AM (#16114204)
In our company, even we are "small", we have taken this very seriously (formed a team responsible of this, talked with layers, etc).

Personally, for our kind of business (saas for other companies who uses our software with other companies and organizations), I find this a competitive advantage as well. Well done GDPR -> makes buying easier.

I switched back to a "good old plain, non distracting phone" 2013 (http://www.atterobay.com/public/upload_images/model_images/o...) and have been pretty happy.

That said, I have to admin that the "features" I'm missing are a camera and a map.

IMHO this is the point 4. the author is pointing out:

"Posing the question is a large part of the work. If you have never seen rope, it actually doesn’t occur to you that rope would come in handy, or to ask yourself how to make some."

Sorry @quadrangle, I would go towards an opposite opinion than yours :) I have never in my life been in such a time when inventing would be as easy as now: It's so easy to communicate through internet to find people and skills to fill the ones I'm missing. From crazy idea to proof of concept is pretty straight forward.

For example if you have invented something including electronics:

You have no knowledge of it? PCB (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Printed_circuit_board) knowledge -> buy some from freelance.net. Basic component drawing with pen and paper is OK to ask a quota for. And when you want to build the PCBs -> alibaba.

And proof of concepts can be built even with more simple parts, such as Arduino, piece of metal can, etc.

(Edited some typos and bad English.)

Yes. I'm not super sure if this is privacy only. I think the cookie part is also for data protection. So that the end user could have understanding she/he is the product.

I also wonder for what some of the sites use cookies in such a way they need to ask for that "You must agree on our cookies" -consent. Since so many type of cookies are exempt from the need: user‑input cookies, authentication cookies, user‑centric security cookies, multimedia content player cookies, load‑balancing cookies, user‑interface customisation cookies, third‑party social plug‑in content‑sharing

How could one have detected this kind of attack even faster?

Periodically calling the endpoint and validating the certificate used is the right one?
