For browser-based website monitoring the best ones are AlertFox and Browsermob

True. If they would go and work for IBM, would it still sound so good? How come getting a job at Google is seen as a small Nobel price?

Don't forget that the powerful Firefox extensions like noscript, firebug, imacros,... are what (many) users love about Firefox. Chrome only has "lite" versions of these tools for technical reasons (limited extension API).
So I agree that the very rapid release schedule is the problem here. It brings more problems than it solves. Just because Google does something, does not mean it is good for everyone.

...says the company that keeps their search engine ranking algorithms secret.
...says the company that does not even share how much % of their adsense revenue goes to advertisers.
In short: Both companies guard what they consider important for their success.

Just to mention another tool: For quick regression testing I found the iMacros for Firefox addon very easy to use: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/imacros-for-f...
I also like its ability to read CSV files out of the box ("table driven testing").

"Truth is, 90 percent of the people there, you will find, they'll do the most stupid things, impulsive things. I know for a fact. At the same time, Americans are bighearted people, and the remaining 10 percent of them are smart. Bloody smart. That's why they rule the world."
My observation as well :-)
Re:Test whether any website is blocked in China in real-time

This service can not be accurate, as what is blocked varies within China! And even within the same city, it varies with ISP. Go figure.

Yes, it is actually this simple: Find someone willing to hire you for 66000 Euro or more yearly salary (65 above was wrong) and you will get a working permit without much problems. The "only" problem is to find a job paying this salary.

You are wrong. A corporation in Germany/EU offers the same protection as a US corporation.

Is saving a few % of taxes that important for an IT company?

Not to forget: Instant(!!!) green card for anyone earning more than 65000 Euros/year.
The only issue I still have is the "awful German language" ;-)

Compared to Silicon Valley (or even the US east coast) Germany as is low-cost country. Developers earn only half the US salary - and can live well with it ("free" (well, tax paid) healthcare, schools, universities,...)
And since a few years, finally a decent immigration policy!
