As I said, and as also your reply shows, you are closer to 1984 than Russia..

Russia is fighting for its existence against vastly superior enemy. Russia wanted to avoid this war, even though not realizing fully how much superior the enemy was. Everyone who tells you otherwise fell victim to western propaganda, or is a propagandist himself. (I live in the west since childhood, and I understand both you and them. In particular, 1984 is more about you than it is about them.)

So, where is the "fun"? is it about going to other countries to make "regime" changes? I bet, Yasha, that also your grandparents wanted to build a just and equal society. Do you think that their dream was less noble than the "american dream"?

The author looks knowledgeable, and the text is certainly interesting to read, but I really dislike the slang here and there.. You know, people of whom you talk, were more refined than the bums on today's tv screen.. I suppose it is the author's "sense of humour". Or the absence of mine, but still..
