Let's hope google starts doing the same soon. But I would be very surprised considering googles business model.

I have never bought something from one of those generic merch sites, but I guess some people do, otherwise they wouldn't exist. Good for them if they can offset some of their costs with that.

Really interisting that this is article is from 2004. To me this gives strong IndieWeb vibes. It's a shame that all the things that require an own domain are never going into the mainstream, not to mention the user experience of having to manually sign a comment before posting it.

Seems like this is not a great filter anymore with tools like this and generally LLMs that can generate believable cover letters en masse.
Re: on Friday July 14, 2023 @05:29AM (#36721536)
I don't really get why we even bother with cover letters anymore. Fortunately I see more and more companies places that explicitly discourage a cover letter when applying.
Re:Show HN: Hacker News User Blogroll on Thursday July 06, 2023 @08:44AM (#36614919)
There is! It's called microformats[1] and is a very minimal format to embed machine readable data inside of html via standardized class names. The format for a person would be an h-card[2]. There are a bunch of parsing libraries for multiple programming laguages, such as https://go.microformats.io/.

For example if you enter my website url in there you get all the data as a nice json object: https://go.microformats.io/?url=https%3A%2F%2Ftiim.ch

Does syncthing not support iphone? Because on android it works flawlessly.
I'm pretty sure it originates with wes bos (wesbos.com) , the person that also created uses.tech

I just post random stuff, mostly things that took me a while to figure out, and which would otherwise just sit in my notes.
