Take a look at the old entrance exams to ivy league schools from back then.

Because unless you want to read someones multi-page terms and conditions you can never know whether they can claw the money back.
We had 1000's well into the 90's in Canada. I got to hold one as a kid. Apparently 98% of them have fallen into mafia hands somehow which I find hilarious given our history. Especially since they can't get them back, want them back, and if used they have to be honoured. It must drive certain people crazy.
Wait... how do you explain the appearance of the building with no expenses shown except "from cash"?
There would have been a long period of time when those games would have been worthless.

I guarantee they can be programmed to carry out missions without sending and receiving signals. Otherwise they can always be detected.
Three laser diodes in series, electrically?
For a lot of people when it "works" for them is when they discover they no longer need the drug at all and feel they know more about themselves. You describe it here:

"Most people realize that their psychonautic journey is at best leading them in circles, and at worst is causing their life to spiral down the drain. So they give it up, get a job without 9pm slack messages (or find a better way to adjust to stress), marry someone who isn't constantly on the verge of cheating, start doing regular exercise, and generally find a way to settle into a reasonably balanced life."

Perhaps this period of self examination is what leads so many to such similar conclusions?

Good point. Give Alaska to Canada.
Re:Canadian islanders angry over US mail searches on Sunday December 01, 2019 @07:42PM (#21678951)
I agree. Canada needs to start ripping open ever package we can get our hands on in retaliation.

The bad part is once they have your name you can't leave the island except for the months when the ferry runs. Ever.

Have the ability and work ethic to do that is good. Actually spending your whole waking life at work is bad. You only get one life.
The only reason we have electric cars being pushed as much as they are is because of Tesla, specifically Elon Musk. It is not some government program. If it weren't for them we would have the Nissan Leaf and that is about it. And it wouldn't have half the performance that even it has today.

Short answer: Monied interests don't really care, or don't think it is possible or feasible.

Cool as long as you do that for a hundred other offenses.
Reminds me of a story maybe ten years ago where a daughter had her pregnancy outed to her parents due to all the "you're pregnant!" spam being sent to everyone in the house all of a sudden.
Re:Alcohol breath tests are often unreliable on Sunday November 03, 2019 @02:36PM (#21436049)
Especially since a conviction hurts people more than most car accidents.

The worst part about this case was in the custody situations. Even if as a parent you prove the test was false, if they take your kid early enough and for long enough they still won't let you have your kid back. Even if you are totally innocent. And that time span is relatively short.
Simple, you just pay 1500/mo to someone else to look after them at some sort of group child care company.
Yes. Otherwise they would have nothing to say in meetings.

Care to share a link?
Re:DJI Mavic Mini on Thursday October 31, 2019 @02:55PM (#21412318)
Agreed. They could have put other limits in place easily. I have to assume they figured battery technology would get better allowing for these advances.

Good bye drone laws!! 250g is the limit before you need a license in Canada!
Subtract 2% from what?
Victory for the good guys! And also a pretty cool thing to pull off in general.
>All of these seem to require a significant investment of time before the interview process gets kicked off, which is uninclusive because it biases the hiring process against candidates whose time outside of the office is consumed by taking care of their children.

You have to be kidding me. It also is biased against people whose time is spent playing video games or who do nothing at all.

Some jobs are meant for people at a certain point in their career. Sometimes you don't get to have everything at the same time.

People like you would argue it would be better to shut down hospitals than let doctors work long hours because those long hours might make women not want to do the job.

PG&E didn't invent electrical power. They fulfill a role identical to thousands of similar organizations around the world. Apparently, they do a very poor job of it.
Re:Iraq introduces nightly internet curfew on Thursday October 10, 2019 @05:51PM (#21219537)
I think that is mostly due to the fact it could kick off a major war.
Yeah the new push is to drive our population to 100M in 80 years from about 37M now. It costs $2300/mo in our biggest cities for a single bedroom apartment on average.
