I do recall writing a text "battle" game in the Pokemon style with Harry Potter characters but that was a single battle sequence. It was also before I knew OOP and for my first programming class :) Your comment brought back some memories.

IDK my wife has no interest in my investments. I don't necessarily hide it from her, it's just not a thing that comes up.
Man how out of touch do you have to be to do that.
I won't buy a car smaller than most cars on the road. It's a safety issue.
5% for me instead of the usual 3%. I'm looking for jobs now.
That rewrite has been so bad, ruined probably the best mobile browser out there.
Re:Canada to ban foreigners from buying homes on Thursday April 07, 2022 @12:24PM (#30946656)
I was shocked and alarmed at the cellphone bills when I moved to the US from a third world country, and then my classmate who had moved to Canada sent me his bill...
Re:Amazon completes its $8.5B acquisition of MGM on Wednesday March 23, 2022 @10:43AM (#30778940)
I've read the first couple and it's p good mystery literature. It's not "growth" reading, more like fun reading. I'm enjoying the 90s throwbacks too, without cellphones etc.

My wife has worked her way through most of the series and says it gets better.

Re:Russian forces invade Ukraine after Putin orders attack on Thursday February 24, 2022 @09:22AM (#30455012)
I laughed at this one:

The United Kingdom, merely described as an "extraterritorial floating base of the U.S.", should be cut off from Europe.[9]

Re:Germany shelves Nord Stream 2 pipeline on Tuesday February 22, 2022 @09:59AM (#30428709)

Re:Travel is no cure for the mind (2018) on Wednesday February 09, 2022 @12:57PM (#30275768)
Yeah agreed, in the moment it feels so much more meaningful and enjoyable but in retrospect.... where did the time go?

I suspect it's because we don't have enough time for introspection as the kids grow so there's nothing to anchor/solidify those memories.

Can you hit those spots if you're not white?
This is not very uncarrier, is it?

Or did they do away with that branding?

Re:Ruling party figures say Poland has Pegasus spyware on Monday January 10, 2022 @11:13AM (#29876999)
So... they want to go back to totalitarianism? That doesn't make a lot of sense. I get wanting to keep your culture and identity... but not at this price for people who were paying that price 3 decades ago.
Re:Ruling party figures say Poland has Pegasus spyware on Friday January 07, 2022 @04:09PM (#29844859)
Oof sounds like such a weird thing to happen in Poland of all places... I mean you guys saw first hand what xenophobia and fascism do in WW2. Poland should be the bastion of western liberalism, not whatever it is becoming now...
Re:Summary of Atomic Habits on Tuesday January 04, 2022 @09:12AM (#29794909)

Re:Turkey's Financial Crisis on Monday January 03, 2022 @09:07AM (#29780888)
