Atm the job market is still hot. But the tide is turning (or so the economists say). When/if this happens it's going to be an employers' market and if the employers' require a butt in the chair there's not much you can do.

IMO though full remote is not without serious downsides for the workers as well. Globalized market with localized salaries and alienation being just two of them. Being in my third year of fully remote I can testify to the second one.

I'm just saying that I would think twice before agreeing on letting an alcoholic run a bar or a short-sighted person flying a fighter jet.
Much good science was done in spite of the faiths as Galileo would testify. The Church was accepting the science when there was absolutely no other way.
Because his background strongly suggests that he's far from scientifically objective when it comes to sentience.

On another note maybe he saw an opportunity for his 15 minutes of fame here. My personal experience with religious (Christian) young people is that they find it very hard to control their special narcissisms. Very hard to even recognize them as such as they masquerade behind false humbleness and ethics and several other layers.

What I find really odd though is that, given his background, Google actually assigned him to such a task. I'd thought that of all companies they would be much better in posting the right people for the right roles.

Also it sounds to me that the gist of the matter is in:

>> Lemoine may have been predestined to believe in LaMDA. He grew up in a conservative Christian family on a small farm in Louisiana, became ordained as a mystic Christian priest, and served in the Army before studying the occult. Inside Google’s anything-goes engineering culture, Lemoine is more of an outlier for being religious, from the South, and standing up for psychology as a respectable science.
