I guess not everyone is having tens on gigabytes for 5€ like me, but hell, even if the megabyte is more expensive than gold in some fucked up economy does that mean everyone should sell their soul to google and the likes?

Little communication software out there can be made as secure and resilient as email.

Two people out there can run their mail servers on a laptop or a raspberry pi. Email is easily encrypted with TLS and GPG on top.

The initial setup for this could take less than 2 hours.

Bonus points: everything could be run from a *sh shell, 1 CPU core and 128 RAM is quite enough.

Postfix (and HAProxy for that matter) are some of the best pieces of software I have the pleasure to work with. Very good docs, I personally haven't seen them crash and have a way to never take you by surprise.

Or self-hosted.

We're called 'colleagues' at work (US company). Always reminds me of the so-called communism propaganda I used to live in.

At the same time it empowered those who could not afford to pay or could not pay (legal/geo-restrictions, DRM etc).

Right. This all started with the first bitcoin. We had a paradise before.
Exchange bitcoin with real money and ask yourself the same questions.

That's a bit enraging to me. I feel it's in the same class of arguments with things like earth is flat -- we don't want a round one, blacks are not humans -- they should be happy we grant them slavery. The status quo is our normality.

Which one? I had savings to buy several apartments but in a few years those savings were worth a lunch. That was a long time ago. But as of now my income depends on US, EU, Syria, Turkey etc crisis and hell knows what other stuff I don't even hear about on the news.

As a guy lacking both bitcoins and real money they both weight as a surprisingly similar amount of crap.

You pay for results?

Offtopic: Nice and clean blog interface. Anyone knows if this is self-made or it is a platform of some kind?

If ~$100 is that much for you (as a company of some sort) why don't you use Letsencrypt?

What bad results in IMAP or SMTP? In my experience this works as advertised.
Re:Google Begins Rolling Out Google Play Music Family Plan on Wednesday December 09, 2015 @11:59PM (#10708979)
They're lazy. I use Google Apps for personal, family members. Google asked a few times if I'm sure I'm not a business. I said I'm not. In the end, without asking anymore they stopped billing VAT because I'm a business. Well... OK.

Just watch the video. Everything is similar to a current Android phone.
Re:UBlock Origin on Monday June 15, 2015 @02:44PM (#9721183)
If people who run ads were ethical users wouldn't resort to ad blockers.

See how easy that was? It's called bullshit logic.

ublock origin and umatrix work fine.
