Ah yes. The old anti-privacy mantra: you have nothing to worry about, if you have nothing to hide.

That it may be but there’s no excuse.

Declare an incident first, investigate later.

Cheating SLAs by delaying the incident is a good way to erode trust within and without.

Looking forward to trying this when I have a phone that runs iOS 17+.

Plausible but likely wrong.

A dedicated comms person is part of the incident response team.

Re:Fungus breaks down ocean plastic on Friday June 14, 2024 @01:22AM (#40677736)
As long as we keep buying stuff wrapped in plastic, someone needs to keep making more of it.
It’s not gross. It’s a simple solution to a simple and common cron problem

Just because it doesn’t consider external executions, it doesn’t mean it’s a bad solution. Horses for courses etc

I’ve made it about the same number of times, and I’ve enjoyed them all. Maybe I don’t know what really good kimchi tastes like.

It lasts for a long time in the fridge and, imo, it gets better with time. The ingredients I use aren’t always the same, aside from the cabbage, salt and garlic.

I’ve used different combinations of carrot, spring onion, chilli flakes, ginger, fish sauce. I’m keen to try the anchovy paste that I just learnt about.

You probably know this, but Alma means “soul” in Portuguese.

Is this why you picked the name? I like it. I went with Ada myself (after Lovelace - wife only found-out why years later).

This is fascinating. I just watched the bbc video on YouTube about it.
Sendmail made me think everything in Unix was so scary and esoteric.
Re:Baker's Math (2009) on Sunday October 02, 2022 @04:08PM (#33059689)
When you’re using a starter, things get more interesting because you need to account for the water and flour content in it.

It usually doesn’t complicate it too much because most starters are 100% hydration - ie equal mass of flour and water.

Re:uBlock Origin works best on Firefox on Monday August 22, 2022 @02:36PM (#32555376)
That’s a strong opinion. Would you elaborate?
Is that because of regulation? What’s the concern of having open source for RF firmwares?
Re:Brazil's answer to the Sichuan pepper on Friday July 15, 2022 @07:36PM (#32113882)
Try also “batida”: equal parts cachaça, lime (not lemon!) juice, water, and sugar to taste.

Great in small sips as a palate cleanser when having bbq.

Great read!

Reminded me of tucupi, which has been popular for longer, and also causes a numbing sensation: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tucupi

Location data is proprietary IP that GitLab doesn’t have the right to make publicly available. This is why it was made private.

If you’re applying for a job at GitLab, you’ll receive a password so you can calculate your salary.

You must be talking about shared runners in GitLab.com.

Re:Most Important Linux Commands Cheatsheet on Friday January 14, 2022 @06:59AM (#29933412)
Pedantic note about ctrl+d: it doesn’t mean logout. It sends and EOF character.

Said EOF is honoured by your TTY, which closes the FD this ending the session.

You can see this by typing `cat -` and ending it with ctrl+d. The windows equivalent is ctrl+z.

I believe is now called MANGA.

Re:LibreELEC 10.0 on Saturday September 11, 2021 @07:02AM (#28490936)
I’m a long-ish time user of LibreELEC and holy crap! That blog post is like “there be dragons here, there and everywhere”.

I’ve recently moved on from LE on RPi to OSMC on some British media centre hardware that I forget the name now. The main reason was because some (all?) of the x265 stuff I downl^H^H^H^H^Hacquired wouldn’t play properly.

Re:On beaming solar power from low earth orbit on Sunday September 05, 2021 @04:17PM (#28427396)
Charlie Stross recently wrote a blog post about this: http://www.antipope.org/charlie/blog-static/2021/09/fossil-f...

He is a lot more optimistic than the average person in this comments section.

Completely off-topic but yesterday I upgraded my Debian 10 home server to 11 and it rebooted fine! It had a 132 day uptime on it.

I run a unify controller on docker, pihole, influxdb, grafana and a bunch of other small scripts. I did need to upgrade my collectd Python modules to 3 but that was it.

Going by this rationale, are you going to add Apple ID to your website when users request it?

FWIW, you can turn off most things by going to the project settings under general, visibility.

This reduces the menu items to a minimum.
