Re:Gemini 4 Carbon on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @01:37PM (#50277585)
I wonder if this is finally a frontier model or just dogshit(i.e. behind open models) like all the past 3 models they released so far.
Re:GPT 6.1 Sol: Near-Astra intelligence for a fifth of the price on Tuesday September 29, 2026 @01:29PM (#49897036)
They need to fix Astra first. My main issue is with GPT in general is that unless steered it goes into building AI “sloppiness”/machinery that is not “needed”.

The good part is that this kind of behaviour also makes it good to find subtle bugs or debug issues that Fable/Claude just cannot get/fix even when you point it.

something tell me that the vast majority of people will give all the permissions the agent ask but even more look for a bypass/yolo permission.

I say that from coding experience. You don’t want to approve 100 windows to get a task done. In the end the only “sane” solution for my setup was a dedicated machine just for the agent with Bitwarden for secrets and full access/yolo mode.

If you are concerned about the agent deleting everything make sure you have a process backing up the git repositories at least to a separate service/hosting and that’s it…for now.

So the solution is to have backups and a way to restore data…

Re:OpenAI Feared "Optics" of what might appear on Hacker News on Sunday September 27, 2026 @06:12AM (#49865259)
Let’s just pretend that “poor” people who die because of our stupid laws (even now as this AI clown show is playing out) do not matter while the billionaires running these AI companies get a free pass and it’s OK.

Fun fact: Kim Dotcom is still fighting extradition while these drama queens (I.e Dario) are lecturing us about how much access the peasants should get to AI models fed and trained with stolen IP.

So this is the future of the Nvidia B200 cards as well

With what? More debt? What will nvidia say?
Re:Is Fable 5 Back? on Tuesday June 16, 2026 @09:44AM (#48555217)
Fable 5 would not allow this post due cyber sec risks
Re:Anthropic's Safety Superpower on Monday June 15, 2026 @03:29PM (#48545916)
Exactly that’s what he wants and then there will be a loophole to close: open source models.
Re:Anthropic's Safety Superpower on Monday June 15, 2026 @07:34AM (#48539804)
That’s really what Dario wants. Let’s hope he doesn’t get it
Re:Making Claude a Chemist on Sunday June 14, 2026 @08:23AM (#48526537)
Ok I may agree with this. Instead to ban it we should nerf it to the point it’s useless.
Re:Making Claude a Chemist on Sunday June 14, 2026 @01:44AM (#48524520)
Let’s ban this before it gets too powerful !
Re:GLM 5.2 Is Out on Sunday June 14, 2026 @12:51AM (#48524283)
You can’t ignore their continuous PR on banning open models and regulating everything AI. With Fable we also see how they want it to work: store the data indefinitely (30 days or more) and put restrictions on everything “dangerous” (I.e AI, IT security, biology physics ). I am pretty sure they would want to give specific access on different companies/entities and on differential pricing(I.e use regulatory to inflate their prices)

We’ve also seen how bad that works in practice(I.e making the AI useless for a lot of stuff including programming and Sysadmin ).

It would be okay if they just do their own thing but this Dario guy wants to enforce that enshitification of the whole industry. And that’s not OK because they have money now, power and influence.

I hope the gov will put breaks on Anthropic and regulate them just the way they wanted. The next best thing would be to ask them put restrictions on Opus as they did on Fable

Dario will start complaining again hoping they will be banned. Let’s hope this guy is flushed out asap
It has been clear but it was never enforced. Now EU and UK was placed on the same level as China.
Re:GLM 5.2 Is Out on Saturday June 13, 2026 @12:39PM (#48518918)
No, Dario became too tiresome and annoying that someone had to do something. Personally I hope they ban Opus too. It will only provide more support for open models development. Compare Dario horror posts with this from GLM release: “ Intelligence should be open, accessible, and ready to build with, empowering every developer, everywhere.”
I don’t see it as good PR for Anthropic at all. They did a lot of PR in that direction but now it backfired.

People/gov now think twice about relying on US ai products. I don’t think the investors are very happy with the place this landed either.

I think the right move for Europe and other countries would be to effectively ban US tech and follow the Chinese response to Nvidia (delivered personally to Trump: we want to build our own AI chips).

I think this is the beginning of the end of US tech dominance. That being said I personally was not impressed with Fable at all. Apart from burning tokens like there was no tomorrow it behaved like Opus 4.8 and produced more or less the same output. In practice I think it was hard to use due the safety restrictions. With the shadow slop injector it was basically DOA but they changed that policy so at least it still had a chance.
Let’s stop posting on HN before it’s too late. The next “Show HN” will be too dangerous for the world. - Dario Amodei, Anthropic CEO.
Fable 5 was a flop so I doubt Fable 6 will make it on the short list
You start to wonder if that’s a good place to be present
Re:The Future of Email on Friday June 12, 2026 @08:12AM (#48503137)
You can call it Secure-Email or RFC-99999
Re:The Future of Email on Friday June 12, 2026 @07:13AM (#48502616)
To have secure email I think html /css should be dropped from email support and the inbox should work on an invite only basis. Basically you should pre-authorize the senders just like you add someone as friend on a social network.
Re:MiMo Code Is Now Released and Open-Source on Friday June 12, 2026 @05:50AM (#48501974)
There are very rarely original ideas or original products. It’s more about money put into that idea and the marketing. You could say that Apple copies and imitates just like the chinese. After all they wait for the others to pour money into the ideas and they just deliver a polished experience on top of the hard work others did. Yet people don’t accuse them of being imitators.I think people are mad at the Chinese because they do it for cheap and at an industrial scale on so many products/industries(i.e even food). To me they are a force for good competition.
Re:MiMo Code Is Now Released and Open-Source on Friday June 12, 2026 @05:42AM (#48501930)
What does it sound so familiar with some US business models? I mean all the big tech does exactly that plus Uber (if you call it a tech company)
As we’ve seen with Fable, Mythos is more of a hype myth to justify the data retention and restrictions they added. Otherwise it’s just an incremental update of Opus. I can’t really say upgrade because the restrictions makes it a downgrade
Mythos is at best an incremental upgrade of opus. The hype and PR was there just to justify the “safety guards”. Overall the Fable is a worse model than opus considering all the restrictions and risks not to mention the data retention policy.
There is no middle ground to shadow bans while getting your hard earned cash. It is fraud/Nigerian scam
This is DOA. It looks like cyber operations so thankfully Claude will refuse to work on anything there or better just bankrupt the funding members while delivering slop(on purpose to doge their cyber operations )
Whatever retention policy they have it will be honoured the same way they comply with DMCA laws(I.e if we’ve got it it’s ours to train/use)

Can I just say fuck JavaScript so we can stop mentioning this time and time again ?
