Well I'm sure they still have amazing career prospects just based on their resumes.

What does that have to do with what he said about Tesla? Are you going to debate with him or are you going to make another non-contributing comment?
This isn't Reddit. Please read the guidelines: https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html

Specifically, "Be civil. Don't say things you wouldn't say face-to-face. Don't be snarky. Comments should get more civil and substantive, not less, as a topic gets more divisive. "

Re:What Isaac Asimov Taught Us About Predicting the Future on Thursday January 03, 2019 @04:22PM (#18819408)
It's disappointing to start reading a potentially interesting article about Asimov only to find out halfway through it's being used as another anti-Trump piece instead of concluding with anything insightful.

I or others shouldn't have to pay more for sugar because of others inability to limit themselves. There's already several other "taxes" we have to pay. No one wants to add another thing on that list.
Uni is essentially extended High-School for students nowadays, unfortunately.
Are your "Rights" and "Lefts" the same as ours in the US? I think it can all vary, but it would provide interesting context. Is the UK's right more closely aligned with the House of Lords or the like?
It's a bit sad to see a comment like this downvoted even though it had effort put into it and gives a perspective that most here don't even know about. Despite the antagonism towards the French commuters I found it enlightening.
Maybe "oppression" is too strong a word, but some definitely take advantage (in a negative context) of others because of their status. For example, I work on a gov't site where we are required to buy from minority-owned groups. Well they know this so they charge outrageous prices when selling to us and we can't do anything about it. This is with tax money to boot.
Third-wave comes with their own set of problems, as an aside. They definitely have not moved away from kinkshaming and sex-negativity.
