So many scientific principles visible in one image. Astounding!
So can we orthonormalize it into OKaut space?
YMMV. My first reading of Discworld was in publication order and I loved it!
Anyways, yes, everyone should read this series, one way or another.
That's pretty cool. Works great in my 320x90 kitty!
I used to use the Sawfish window manager ... before it fell out of maintenance, oh and before I switched to DEs with the window manager bolted on.
The thing I miss the most from Sawfish is that it let me resize any window. There are a lot of fixed-sized modal dialogs with scrollbars that wouldn't need them if they were taller, and there's a lot of room on my portrait monitor!
I appreciate the lack of "talk to a lender" wall.
Compare https://whathemortgage.com/ ← similar, for Dutch mortgages. It supports both annuity and linear interest structures. Also open source which might help you!
... and got an STD, gave it to his wife, and wanted to slip antibiotics to her so she wouldn't find out ...
88x31 is the size for such badges established in the early 1990s. These days it might need to be pixel doubled to look vintage.
I am in your target audience! I can live from payday to payday on any salary. My only savings are mandatory pensions and my only asset is home equity.
It's not recklessness or stress avoidance. I would not have to work anymore if I had ever taken it seriously. Many people have sat me down and explained budgets and expense tracking to me. Now I download my transactions and categorize them every month, and I look at spending trends... but this information does not influence my behavior.
This is catastrophic. I can't count the number of science and documentary programs they produced over the years.
Revolution is overdue.
I have essential workflows using x2x, xev, and xdotool. Apparently this kind of stuff is contrary to Wayland's security model, so I'm stuck on Xorg, and I'm ok with that.
Backups should be far away, too. Apparently some companies lost everything on 9/11 because their backups were in the other tower.
Works for me - those are the first things I turn off!
I have no interest in Astronomer and I am happy to say that I have no idea what they do.
100% hunters. It's just easier to hunt plants because they don't move around.
Here in the Netherlands, via my bank I can list all of my pre-approved transfers and block them. I'm pretty sure every bank here is required to support this. PayPal also has this feature.
I recently had to cut down on expenses starting with extraneous subscriptions and charitable donations, of which I had dozens. Many ad a click-to-cancel or at least fill-out-a-form-to-cancel process, but some of them said 'call us'. Then I discovered that I could cut them all off from my side!
I got a few 'hey your donation stopped' messages, and answered the first ones, but they all eventually went away.
I gave different answers to these questions but you predicted the same answer ... does that mean most people give the same answer for these? :)
> In general, I believe government spending should be decreased to reduce the burden on taxpayers.
> In general, I believe government spending should be increased to fund more public services.
I like how the headline is truncated. I was thinking of 'seen' or 'taken' but turns out it ended with 'shared'.
I tried nose strips but I don't like disposables. I now use silicone nostril openers - two little tubes attached at the base that you stick up your nose. It came as a set of 4 sizes so a bit of waste there, but one size fit me and one size fit my wife.
There's a way to walhalla. Infrastructure, training, and liability laws prime the pump. When almost everyone is a cyclist, every driver knows that any cyclist could be a friend or family member. Or themselves.
Also... The Dutch reach. Open the driver's side door with the other hand to make sure you look for cyclists. In 12 years in Amsterdam I have never won the 'door prize'.
Yes! Just use an app to say where you want to go, and it tells you which of the 3 nearest bus stops to go to, and you get where you want to go reasonably quickly. No bus routes, just dynamic allocation and routing based on historical and up-to-the-minute demand.
If you tell the system your desire well in advance, you pay less. "I need to be at the office at 9 and home by 6 every weekday". Enough area-to-area trips allocate buses. Smaller, off-peak, or short-notice group demand brings minivans. Short-notice uncommon trips bring cars. For people with disabilities or heavy packages, random curb stops are available.
Then you remove private cars from cities entirely. Park your private car outside the city, or even better, use the bikeshare-style rentals. No taxis or Ubers, only public transit, with unionized, salaried drivers. Every vehicle on the road is moving and full of people and you can get rid of most parking spaces and shrink most parking lots.
It's not rocket science. It's computer science.
Fantasy, because it would allow us to drastically reduce the manufacturing of automobiles.
It's a great feature! I have used it in training sessions by giving each student their own login on my laptop, with the ssh shell restricted to 'screen -x <specific user's window>' - the only window that user could use based on screen's ACLs. Then during exercises I (as the owner of the screen) could switch to each student's screen on the projector so the class could see what they had done.
Not surprised to hear it's full of security holes. :)
It's like an ancient version of
> You see the new and improved Oval Office as it becomes more and more beautiful with love. We handle it with great love and 24 carat gold. That always helps too. But it’s been a lot of fun going over some of the beautiful pictures that were stored in the vaults that were for many, many years, in some cases over 100 years, stored in vaults of the great presidents or almost great presidents or all having a reason for being up every one of them.
In high school I was all math>physics>chemistry>biology. So I didn't take biology. Much to my peril. I didn't learn that I wasn't just a brain on a stick until I was 25! At some point "The Inner Life of the Cell" blew my mind.
I once sent my credit card number to Cliff Stoll by sending 2 16-digit numbers from 2 email addresses to 2 email addresses. The sum was my CC.
I can't imagine 147 tabs. I have 9 pinned tabs and maybe ... 6 other tabs open if I'm particularly busy. I also turn off my work laptop at the end of the day, because all of my state is restored when this handful of tabs comes back.
Maybe this is just me managing my ADHD, but when I see people with hundreds of tabs open I just can't imagine how they work. Every tab has been mashed down to its favicon and I watch them struggle to find the right one. It seems insane to me.
My EcoTank didn't notice the day glo and invisible fluorescent inks I put through it. Amazing device.
Indeed, it's the worst case of uncanny valley syndrome!
