That's a good way of putting it, yea. I know it sounds unhinged, but think of China. Would you rather live there?
Chaos & corruption >>> oppressive order
Is Stanford even relevant anymore?
Haha you're right, but as I always say, Latam, despite becoming red all over, is too corrupt/poor/unstable/inept to pull anything off.
There are talks of a single currency ("Sur") which will never happen because Brasil doesn't want to hold Argentina's bags, because there's always been a grudge among many of these countries.
Furthermore, there's a philosophy here: many rules, barely any enforcement (because of reasons stated above).
Ultimately I believe that the EU does have the capacity to do what they say. That's whats scary. Mercosur, not so much.
I'm not from the UK, I'm from South America. It doesn't matter though, both the UK and the EU will crumble apart so fast that I'm already expecting the hordes of expats trying to find refuge here.
Which is funny, because SA lives in a perpetual economic and social crisis, but even still, even a poor and somewhat corrupted country like Bolivia or Paraguay is a better prospect than living in a dystopian communist hellhole.
Unelected bureaucrats who think they are above the citizens, too much reach, too much influence, insistence in regulating every industry and every activity. This can only end in a can a cashless mass-surveillance social credit system dystopia even worse than China. Give it a few years.
I just abhor the EU and everything it stands for. I can't wait to see how Europe comes crashing down.
> Don't you agree ?
I don't. The pandora's box has been opened. Using that criteria, we should also probably limit access to social media, AI, internet access altogether, stop governments from surveilling and tracking every single movement you make, and so many more things that have become an ingrained part of day-to-day life in the last few decades.
I find it funny that some people want to "patch" things up. It's over. I say let's just the experiment until society collapses and then build up from there.
How is that collapse going to look like? Not sure, but it's already happening in the near future. Ironically enough, this is what most women will be doing: https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/001/489/000/a49....
This wouldn't work for me. I always pretend to like something and then change my mind the next day to piss people off.
Maybe just a call to ensure it's legit. Vocal deepfakes will never mimic voices and ways of talking in real time, it will always sound "off". It doesn't make it any less dystopian, though.
No, this is not the way. What's the point in burying your head in the sand?
I don't think the vast majority of people 1) care about this 2) even know what RSS is 3) will stop listening to podcasts 4) will use email as their primary channel for correspondence.
By all means, do this if it's what you, personally, need.
