Timothy Snyder argues that it is impossible to define satisfactorily as a neat, static formula. Instead, he defines fascism as a dynamic "way of seeing the world that denies reason", operating as a cult of will and emotion over objective fact. Rather than relying on single-sentence definitions

We cannot rely on single-sentence definitions. Or we risk repeating history.

No. Fascism is the absence of government. Managed capitalism is a better phrase.

Bureaucracy is what prevents fascism.

Edit: to the comment below is a dangerous view that can only describe fascism in its end state and not in the transition. It’s not only irresponsible to hold these views but academically wrong. Reader please be ware. These are fascist views

January 6th report and every court case in federal court was cited. Not an argument, But fact. YouTube leads to red pill, anti government views. Tech doesn’t want to be regulated, so the algorithm promotes fascist anti government positions. They all donated to Trump and all profit at the end of democracy. DOGE is a perfect example.

What makes this so good is not the curation it’s the age in which confirms our current views after years of bad information. The truth is setting us free and this confirms much

Depends on which data centers. They aren’t all equal. Some use less water and less energy than others. The data centers being more efficient isn’t the company using the service problem.

By what measure?
Re:No Signs of AI Payoff Outside the Tech Sector on Saturday October 24, 2026 @09:15PM (#50227219)
I work for big tech. We don’t have human in the loop anymore. Ai tools handle 99%. It’s not irresponsible if done right. And the next billionaire will show that ai can be tamed, managed, and humans are the problem.

A nice read, thought provoking of how humans can be trapped by cult like behavior.

Re:Learning to live with Waymos on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @10:54PM (#50175516)
Waymo has been ahead of the competition for a long time. It’s why Elon musk donates to GOP. He can’t win and jump through regulatory hurdles. He is and always has been so far behind the curve he is going even anything even if it’s criminal. (Which it is). Not shocking the first thing DOGE did was go after self driving regulatory bodies investigating his marketing terms and deadly crashes.

Re:Why do we have so many meetings? on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @02:51PM (#50170908)
Boomers want to hear themselves talk they think meetings equal work. They are lazy and instead of learning on their own they require others to spoon feed the information to them.

The point flew over your head and landed gracefully
For all of the sex changes not being laid by federal dollars!
The mental gymnastics one must do to believe in what they write is unbelievable. The answer lies right in front and you skipped over it with grace.
Is this the year of the Linux desktop ?
It doesn’t just print money. It raises money or backs it by assets. It amazes me that people have no understanding of basic economics, or what qualitative easing is. Study the 2008 financial crisis to understand the power of modern monetary theory.
