I wouldn't be so sure. Jack Daniels sued (and won) against a maker of dog toys that looked like Jack Daniels but were named "Bad Spaniels". Turns out trademark law actually is complex.

That's one of the arguments being made by TikTok in their challenge against the "TikTok ban" bill.

Interac is also a for-profit corporation. It's just owned by an association of banks. Zelle would be the equivalent in the US.
When did Powell try and raise rates early in the pandemic? You might have your timelines confused, it was well before the pandemic.

Activision purchase hasn't closed yet.
$0 with insurance maybe. This is $5 for all your medications, shipped, without insurance necessary. Seems like a pretty good deal IMO, esp. if you're taking multiple medications.
Re:World’s only sleeping bank website on Thursday January 12, 2023 @02:46PM (#34359285)
It's only $250K per account category per bank. So 5 savings accounts would only get $250K in coverage in total.
Re:EU adopts global minimum 15% tax on big business on Friday December 16, 2022 @03:15PM (#34019697)
It's not that trivial to track down.

Say a US company's French subsidiary sold something for $10 in France. If the software is developed in the US, then the US company will say it cost them $9 to develop in the US, so then they only have pay profits on $1 in France. Then in the US, they will say they paid $3 in costs and sold the software to their French counterpart for $9, booking $6 of profits in the US at a lower rate.

Only once, not for every phone. So if you get it once, buying another phone won't renew it. And now it's only 3 months.
The article says Wire Fraud and Conspiracy.
What happens if there is a grandstanding region that simply refuses or can't get it passed into local law due to a euroskeptic local government?

I think you mean shale, not oil sands?
That's not without risk -- you might have to sell the bonds at a loss if there is a run on the currency.
Just take the money you save on electricity and put it into the market...?
Great. You have the freedom to speak, as long as it’s only in your head or into a corner where no one can ever hear you.

Freedom of speech doesn’t mean the freedom to make people listen, but the government can’t make that choice for people.

Re:Open Salary and Equity Database on Friday February 11, 2022 @05:49AM (#30299856)
Yeah, they don't disclose which is why it's terrible.

Are you behind Topstartups? If so, you still haven't answered the question I posed for your website.

Re:Open Salary and Equity Database on Wednesday February 09, 2022 @06:47AM (#30271576)
The main thing I'd want to know is whether companies pay to appear in the Top Startups list. I learned Breakoutlist does this a few years back and it destroyed their credibility for me.
Re:Amazon more than doubles max base pay to $350k on Monday February 07, 2022 @09:22PM (#30254221)
In theory it's all fungible and doesn't work this way. If it did, they would just take out a loan and buyback their stock and skip all the extra steps.

> employer sponsor you for an H-1B around lottery time

The vast majority of employers will not sponsor you for a H1B, esp. if you don't currently work for them.

How would that help if they're having trouble hiring or retaining software engineers?

Google's official stance is they target 75 percentile pay, not > 95. So not too far off from MS. My guess is they use different peer companies.
> worst inflationary periods in 100 years

I don't completely disagree with you, but c'mon this is hyperbole, right?

https://advisor.visualcapitalist.com/inflation-over-last-100...

You're making a subjective argument but passing it off as if it is objective. It's possible for both a few euros to not be a big deal for my personal budget, but also be something that is not justified as a price increase.
Re:Ask HN: How to get revenue from card merchant fees? on Tuesday February 01, 2022 @09:25PM (#30172784)
Disclaimer: I work at Stripe, but not on the team(s) responsible for this.

You can use Stripe Issuing (https://stripe.com/issuing) to issue virtual or physical cards. If you have a large transaction volume or a unique business model, you can Contact Sales from that page to discuss "interchange revenue sharing", which seems to be what you're describing.

If you want to learn more about Interchange, check out this guide: https://stripe.com/guides/introduction-to-online-payments#co...

You missed the "per day" part.
Where did they say it was "make-or-break"? You can be upset about a 30% increase in prices with no added value while still being able to afford the increase.
Re:It's tough being an Azure fan on Friday September 24, 2021 @12:06AM (#28638509)
This seems like a strawman. You could almost definitely ask/warn the user when they set the cap, or you could make the cap not apply to anything that is not trivially recoverable.
> But to oversimplify, under the Mirror Protocol, the idea is to keep prices of the synthetic -- or “mirrored” -- equities in the ballpark of the real thing by offering incentives for traders to arbitrage price discrepancies and manage the actual supply of tokens. Users can create, or “mint,” new tokens when prices are too high by posting collateral, and destroy, or “burn,” tokens when prices are too low, driving the price up or down.

This seems pretty similar to the authorized participant model used successfully with ETFs, so not sure if it's actually an issue.

This has already been settled; Square will take Credit Karma Tax to prevent Intuit from absorbing a competitor.
