You're only saying this because you're in the fortunate position of not worrying about your job being offshored.
Re:Mozilla appoints new CEO Anthony Enzor-Demeo on Wednesday December 17, 2025 @05:27AM (#46300260)
Mozilla went to shit after Brendan Eich was ousted.
This isn't a fix, it's a lazy bandaid.
Re:Helium Browser on Wednesday September 24, 2025 @07:37PM (#45367284)
Having the option to set Kagi as my search engine right away is nice. I wish more browsers included Kagi as an option.
This is an incredibly welcomed change. When I buy a product from a specific seller amongst a dozen, it's for a good reason. I expect THEIR inventory.
Re:The Gold Card on Saturday September 20, 2025 @10:34AM (#45313760)
I've edited it out after giving the word a more thorough review. I appreciate you raising it.

Excuse me? I voted twice against him.
Re:Trump to Add $100k Fee to H-1B Visas on Friday September 19, 2025 @03:52PM (#45305756)
So move to Bulgaria?
Sure it does, if enough users find this interesting to them. I for one find this interesting.
Re:CVC acquires majority stake in Namecheap for $1.5B on Monday September 15, 2025 @02:27AM (#45246717)
Private equity has been a cancer for the web hosting community. A single firm bought the top two control panels (cPanel and Plesk), the top virtualization solution (SolusVM), and the top billing software (WHMCS). And each year the prices are raised further and further with no real investment. It's forced a lot of smaller providers out and caused prices for customers to skyrocket. And you have to put up with it because the alternatives still aren't quite as good, or you're too locked in.

It's the same for hosting companies. A single PE firm (Endurance) owns over two dozen hosting and domain firms. The first thing they do is lay off the staff (because they already have outsourced agents) and strip the bits away until it's nothing more than a shell with a name for one of their other platforms.

PE is a cancer, and I don't even know if I can count one that has ever been a net positive for a company. All they care about is extracting more and more until all that's left is a stone.

Re:US Adds Surprise Gold Bar Tariff in Blow to Switzerland on Friday August 08, 2025 @09:22AM (#44836643)
You, uh, want to explain what exactly Switzerland is doing that's wrong and why we've been "whacking" all our allies as of late?
I can find nothing about FedNow being replaced or even changed recently. Your source is the only one about this, and it's some no-name crypto junk site nobody's ever heard of.
>Before anyone says “you put all your eggs in one basket,” let me be clear: I didn’t. I put them in one provider

Ah, but that's still one basket.

> Maximizing shareholder value

Depressing. Intel is going to die under this guy's "leadership". I wonder what company will swoop in and buy them? I wonder how much his golden parachute will be.

I'm going to burrow into a hole under my shed and hope for the best when I emerge in four years.
Re:Cosmoe: BeOS Class Library on Top of Wayland on Saturday June 21, 2025 @11:59AM (#44338521)
AFAIK the only thing carried over from Be was Binder (from BeIA), which made its way to Android before being completely rewritten later on.
It looks like the committer is a prolific contributor on there. I'd like to hear their explanation for why they have been repeatedly adding it.
I think this is a legitimate bug. But also that Microsoft is taking its sweet time to fix it.
I'll happily pay extra to never interact with another human. I'd live in a cave and yell at passersbys if I could.
It continues to be a long four years.
Re:Kagi Reaches 50k Users on Monday June 09, 2025 @01:25AM (#44221640)
50K _paying users_ for a _search engine_. That's no small feat.
Re:NASA Shuts Off Voyager Science Instrument on Thursday March 06, 2025 @05:17PM (#43285603)
Not sure if this is a joke, but it was powered off to extend battery life.
I wonder when exactly Microsoft dropped mask and actively decided to fuck over paying customers on the regular. They have zero respect for their users.
Re:TinyX: Small Featured X Server on Tuesday February 11, 2025 @02:30AM (#43009998)
It's stable and it works for me.
That immediately came to mind when I read about this. Is Perplexity in such rough shape that they're going for a Hail Mary pass?

Re:Rosetta 2 creator leaves Apple to work on Lean full-time on Sunday December 22, 2024 @07:04AM (#42485865)
Sometimes people just want to work on cool stuff and have the luxury of being able to do that. Rosetta 2 is shipped and done.
First, my brother in Christ why are nine-year-olds on this app (or even have unmonitored access to things like this)? I have to wonder if they're also on Discord and what they're also being exposed to on there.

I know the site claims to use a model for younger users, but it should really become an 18+ site. Both because of the mature themes and because I think kids aren't fully developed enough to grasp how these LLM chatbots work.

Re:Hetzner cuts traffic from 20 TB –> 1..5 TB on US VPSs on Thursday November 28, 2024 @06:37AM (#42264493)
>Until this change, customers who have used fewer resources have covered the costs, in a way, for other customers who have used much more resources.

So... raising the prices for everybody instead?

Isn't every new Mac mini Apple's best Mac mini? I don't know of any that were regressions.
