Re:Total Annihilation, rebuilt for modern computers on Sunday October 11, 2026 @03:20PM (#50046835)
People in the comments are misundertsanding the difference between a faithful remake and a "spritual successor" with completely different units, gameplay, and content.

Many of us have the exact same thought process. Related: I have heard indie game developers have stopped the traditional practice of updating a dev log as a form of marketing and community building because people will point their LLm at it and create your own game before you do

Zhuangzi was fishing in the Pu River when the King of Chu sent two high officials to him. They said, “The king wishes to entrust you with the affairs of his realm.”

Zhuangzi kept hold of his fishing rod and did not turn around. He said, “I have heard that in Chu there is a sacred turtle that has been dead for three thousand years. The king keeps it wrapped in cloth, enclosed in a box, and stored in the ancestral temple.

“Now, would this turtle rather have died and left its bones behind to be honored, or would it rather be alive, dragging its tail through the mud?”

The two officials replied, “It would rather be alive, dragging its tail through the mud.”

Zhuangzi said, “Then go away. I too will drag my tail through the mud.”

Re:Pi's Minimalism Is Its Advantage on Wednesday August 05, 2026 @10:55AM (#49183869)
the thing is about some of these things, like sub-agents, is that any implementation of sub-agents is going to be extremely opinionated, so it would never make sense to be in pi out of the box.
side scrolling video games were always moving from left to right
Re:I love LLMs, I hate hype on Sunday July 12, 2026 @04:06PM (#48884220)
Currently, because of the subsidies from the frontier models, demand is mostly for higher intelligence.

If subsidies do end, demand for price efficiency per unit of intelligence will go way up.And because there's many players in the market, this demand should be met by at least some of them.

Would be curious to learn more from you if you have any other guidance or details.
hundreds.

likely my approach is often not optimal as I'm not experienced in this field

I have been experimenting with dissassembly and rewrite of 90s dos games in Rust.

It's not something I have experience in so I rely heavily on the models setting the direction and automating the work.

It's something where the level of intelligence has a huge impact. I still haven't succeeded, it's mostly an experiment for me to test the edges of model capabilities and see how they tackle such a hard problem.

I like using Odin with LLMs for this. it's a simple statically typed language with no GC and very fast compile

Re:US Job Openings Decline to Lowest Level in More Than a Year on Wednesday January 07, 2026 @11:32AM (#46528438)
honest question, because it's something I don't understand well. is it possible the quantity of job openings can mask the quality of jobs openings? if job openings at fast food restaurants goes up 1000% maybe this isn't positive
your mother used the latin word "brassica?"
I think this is correct... you can even go with Rust instead of C++
Re:Why fewer university students are studying Mandarin on Friday August 25, 2023 @10:36PM (#37269443)
I'm not ethnically Chinese but I studied Mandarin in college in the early 2000s then moved to Taiwan for almost a decade. I don't regret doing it, but it didn't provide me any sort of business or career advantage like everyone thought it would in the early 2000s

I don't think anyone with knowledge has ever seriously conisdered servers in China more private than US servers. Unless your goal was to keep information private only from the US government.
