Yes something like wenn…dann…sonst?

I remember I heard this structure at Uni at some point.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A11 X130 with 8GB of RAM costs around 220 EUR, I haven't tested that one though.

Another alternative is the Lenovo Legion Tab TB321FU, 12GB RAM, 256GB, but this one costs 500 EUR.

But you are right, there are not a lot of alternatives with 8GB RAM out there. Most Android Tablets with a screen size of 8-9" have 4GB, which would make them slow.

The homeview is DOA, I'm sorry. Who is the target for this?

There is no app store. I mean maybe they will add one later, but still until that happens I really dont see any use case besides setting some kitchen timers.

Yes, smart home is a thing, but tons of people need apps like Hue or Shelly to control their setup.

749 € starting price WTF ?

I want to upgrade my old Mini 5 with Lightning since I want one with USB-C, and the OS is getting slower and slower, but at these prices?

All I do is read websites and watch Youtube on it anyway, so maybe I'll just get an Android Tablet for 300 €.

This is getting ridiculous!

150 AUD isn't that much, but this pre-order scam that Elon is doing has helped him get free cash a lot of times.

People must surely be catching on, no?

But I heard even Sam Altman gave him 50k for a roadster a couple of years ago...

Same here, just give me a compose file and lets go!

It's not doing OCR on the screen, it's intercepting the pixel data that comes unencrypted over the SPI bus that connects the CPU to the display.
Re:The Dock on Mac, from OS 10 to macOS 27 on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @02:51AM (#50067753)
Yea, I cant count how many times I click on the wrong icon because the color is the same: Outlook, Word, Chromium, VSCodium all use the same blue for example.

This didn't happen before since we had shape and color to distinguish. So we lost one dimension...

And this is just because Apple is trying to merge iOS and MacOS at some point. I don't see any other reason.

Smart humans?

Is it smart to deprecate everything the minute Apple sunsets their OS version?

This is not a smart package manager, its a manager for the “dumb” masses, that need to be saved and protected from themselves by forcing them into the next walled garden, so to speak…

Re:I said no and Apple said yes on Tuesday September 22, 2026 @06:36AM (#49799077)
Why does anyone who seems to be working in the software industry even think that immediately updating to the latest major release is ever a good idea?
Lots of faux outrage, rambling and hyperbole here from Gruber.

“Absurdly and insultingly”? Come on…

Yes, why include Bavarian explicitly?

You could have included Tyrolean, Viennese, or whatever which are all local dialects on par with "Bavarian".

These all belong to the Upper German dialects, as seen here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_dialects

Looks like this is just some Vibecoded app, with no real science behind it.

This is not about python packages, this is about python itself.
Exactly. Same with PHP, MySQL etc… Also they just block old versions and dont let you install them, you have to jump through a lot of hoops to use an old PHP version for example, so in no way developer friendly.

In the end I realized that Brew is a package manager for consumers, and as a professional i should’nt keep fighting it.

Please consider adding MacPorts support.

Brew is notoriously developer-unfriendly.

Unfortunately people all over are starting to not do anything.

On a recent plane ride some old guys were watching movies on their phones on full volume. I complained and they stopped, but another guy in another row started doing it again. It gets tiring.

Last week I was on a NYC subway train to JFK Airport and there was a guy blasting some loud hip-hop/trap and a small kid playing some loud game, totally oblivious to the people on the train. After they left some older guy stepped in talking on full speaker to someone for 10 minutes.

It was quite crazy tbh, and I guess people here have already given up and start accepting it since it is tiring to police somebody new every 5 minutes and could also end in violence.

"High prices shame Britain" made me chuckle
I always use Paypal because they have buyers protection, and this has already saved me countless of times.

Would like to see if this is also offered in the Wero ecosystem?

Why does the author keep mentioning that a one line bash command that downloads a bunch of crap is “great UX”?

Re:The AirPods Effect on Friday June 19, 2026 @05:33AM (#48596655)
The author is a "Firm believer that humankind took a wrong turn with the invention of the smartphone." and has a new book coming out, so naturally he is trying to push some anti-tech narrative.

No, headphones don't make people antisocial. If someone is wearing headphones, respect their privacy and just leave them alone. Some people just don't like to chat to random people on the subway or at the supermarket. Some people just don't see the value of mundane conversations with strangers.

It depends on the culture and personality. Some people like it, some don't. In the US, people are more inclined to chat to strangers, and in Germany for example they aren't. These differences are actually what make us "human", so it's not a binary decision of: talking to strangers == good, and headphones == bad.

Thanks for the tip, instead of enduring any longer, i decided to downgrade, which was easier than I expected, and this old version works, doesn't have this bug.

Just delete the Outlook app from the Applications folder, and run the Outlook installer from version 16.109.3 (June 02, 2026) [1]. All data is there, no need for any backups or anything.

Then, delete (or rename) the Microsoft AutoUpdate App, which lives in: /Library/Application Support/Microsoft/MAU2.0

The latest version of "Legacy Outlook" on Mac has a huge bug now: "Replying to or forwarding an email does not include the original message in the email body in legacy Outlook for Mac" [1]

So now i am forced to use this New Outlook crapware at last. And it is crap. Its slow as a dog, every action takes 1s. Why do they rearrange all the buttons, change all the fonts... why don't they just copy the old interface 1:1 ? Who knows...

If I have to use this new version for longer than 2 weeks I am switching to some other client.

And also, who knows, maybe they are purposefully inserting these show-stopping bugs to get people to switch.

I've now moved to an Android eReader (Boox Note 7, for example [1]).

I can just get the Ebook or PDF files and transfer them via Calibre, simple as that, and I can also download any Android app i want. There are tons of apps out there that support eInk screens.

To be fair marketing vibing content pages is different from managers vibing code that powers a trading app for example.
Yes of course, im running a few production projects with it.

Granted, its B2B Saas with not many users, maybe 100 concurrent.

80% of workloads dont need the complexity of Kubernetes and run fine with compose.

I would say most people are complaining about the $20 plan, which is now actually indistinguishable from the free one. I tested it and ran into limits immediately. With Max, i can work properly again.
You are equating countries with corporations now?

How does that even remotely make sense?
