Re:You could have invented transformers from memory on Saturday October 17, 2026 @09:54AM (#50131202)
Wow!! I wish I had this perspective 13 years ago during those dull courses describing the mechanics of an MLP.
Re:Disrupting a new covert influence campaign from Russia on Wednesday August 26, 2026 @05:57AM (#49446375)
I broadly agree with your thrust but I'm going to assume you're a bot. Who would benefit from such a perspective as yours?
Re:Was Modern Art a CIA Psy-Op? (2020) on Tuesday August 25, 2026 @07:02AM (#49431825)
Is calling that which calls everything a psy-op a psy-op also a psy-op?
Re:Sony halts memory card shipments due to NAND shortage on Tuesday March 31, 2026 @03:28AM (#47583903)
The word you seek is 'sarcastic'. The ever so slightly neuro-divergent don't do sarcarsm. Nor do linkedinlunatics.
Chin up. There's always the civil service.
Do you have any data to back up the claim that it's "quite common" to work remotely across countries within the EU/UK. Almost nothing in the "common/single market" works uniformly across the "common/single market". For instance this guy (OP) doesn't have a hope in hell of landing a job anywhere in the EU even though he's in the UK.
Re:EU lawmakers push to ban term 'veggie-burger' on Friday October 10, 2025 @07:33AM (#45537684)
Ooc what did you mean by 'their own' industry? The industry of making regulations or the food industry?
Re:A small number of samples can poison LLMs of any size on Friday October 10, 2025 @07:25AM (#45537631)
Didn't read but they could've gone for a more catchy title eg. some bad apples spoil the barrel
Re:Nobel Peace Prize 2025: María Corina Machado on Friday October 10, 2025 @07:19AM (#45537588)
I apologise in advance for making light of the situation in your country, but did you find the peace awards more meaningless than Hinton's award for PHYSICS?!!
Re:Blame Coca-Cola for whales dying from consuming plastic on Friday November 25, 2022 @07:23AM (#33741739)
Out of curiosity, is packagingnews.co.uk a site you visit frequently for industry news or the first that come up on google when you searched for coca-cola's recycling activities in the UK?

It's not difficult to spread something that's already popular.
Re:Are We Prisoners of Geography? on Wednesday November 16, 2022 @06:27AM (#33621517)
I don't buy the "flatlands to the west" either. I'd sooner buy they want some more coastline with warm water. I imagine Canadians on average will be less pleasant if they're stuck with a hostile U.S. to the south.
Re:Leaked grant proposal details high-risk coronavirus research on Saturday September 25, 2021 @08:36AM (#28652669)
Please read my comment again. Perhaps you aren't suggesting the opposite.
Re:Leaked grant proposal details high-risk coronavirus research on Saturday September 25, 2021 @08:06AM (#28652471)
The "zero evidence" claim is a blatant attempt to shift the burden of proof. In my opinion the burden of proof remains with those hypothesizing zoonotic origin.
Re:Welcoming our first riders in San Francisco on Tuesday August 24, 2021 @12:28PM (#28291030)
Can't wait for these to be launched in my city! Love from Dhaka.
Re:Ecological Amnesia: Life Without Wild Things (2019) on Tuesday August 24, 2021 @11:12AM (#28289890)
More cobras in the wild! Result! As as aside, you'll find a cobra isn't an apex predator - a King Cobra ... now that could be considered. Every incentive humans have ever dreamed up has had perverse/unintended outcomes - what's your point?
Re:Ecological Amnesia: Life Without Wild Things (2019) on Tuesday August 24, 2021 @09:28AM (#28288556)
The credits get mined based on proof of existence and then can be traded. 'Given' was the wrong choice of word.
This seems like the more sensible approach - to understand/learn how to protect ourselves from malaria/dengue/etc. rather than gene-drive systems to eradicate (certain types of?) mosquitoes.
Re:Ecological Amnesia: Life Without Wild Things (2019) on Tuesday August 24, 2021 @07:54AM (#28287584)
The 'science' isn't conclusive that salts of glyphosate are harmful to insects. Please stop with your anecdotal experiential evidence. Hopefully you've been in the 'home of the brave' long enough to get sarcasm.
Re:Ecological Amnesia: Life Without Wild Things (2019) on Tuesday August 24, 2021 @07:17AM (#28287283)
Screw carbon credits. Countries should be given credits based on the number of (non-human) apex predators in the wild within their borders and any carbon-intensive/polluting economic activity should have to be offset against these very expensive credits.
The same can be said of numerous products/industries 'disrupted' by YC/HN types. Kettle/pot? Specialized are no angels themselves. There are no sacred cows anymore - sorry but screw your small/local/artisanal shite - this from someone who would've ordinarily supported your sentiment. But these aren't ordinary times - the quest for economies of scale will bring scorched earth to everybody one way or another.
Re:Moderna Is About to Begin Trials for HIV Vaccine on Tuesday August 17, 2021 @01:59PM (#28212866)
I know and I appreciate your effort to educate / warn. But you do realize that most of these posts are made by shills ?
Re:Launch YC S21: Meet the Batch, Thread #7 on Tuesday August 17, 2021 @01:47PM (#28212691)
Can you please do the Kiwi accent instead?
Re:Moderna Is About to Begin Trials for HIV Vaccine on Tuesday August 17, 2021 @01:29PM (#28212501)
So long Moderna, short condom manufacturers isn't a good idea?
Re:How mindfulness could make you selfish on Tuesday August 17, 2021 @12:30PM (#28211717)
Well neither of them were successful so we're both clutching at straws.
Re:How mindfulness could make you selfish on Tuesday August 17, 2021 @05:09AM (#28207741)
Ha! Good catch! My comment above won't do? Research funded by the University of Life.
Re:How mindfulness could make you selfish on Tuesday August 17, 2021 @04:55AM (#28207663)
A 'decent controlled study' suggests that 'decent controlled studies' measuring 'charitable impulses' are not all that decent or controlled.
Re:How mindfulness could make you selfish on Tuesday August 17, 2021 @04:53AM (#28207650)
Nazis probably had great big charitable impulses towards one another and those that looked/behaved like them. If they were mindful they probably would've observed their biases.
Re:How mindfulness could make you selfish on Tuesday August 17, 2021 @04:42AM (#28207584)
A recent study suggests that the BBC uses phrases like 'a recent study suggests' when they actually mean there's some anecdotal evidence.
